Lots and lots of water to make sure the powder is all out but the pain will last for a while I'm afraid.

Eventually his tears will wash it away if you can't get him to open his eyes at all but it will prolong the agony.

Poor love, big sympathy (from the person who once got fresh chilli somewhere else very sensitive)

hmb · 09/12/2003 17:16

Head backwards over the bath, and run cool water from the shower head, gently into his eyes.

Good luck

Glad it's all ok now FF

Let's just say never think you've removed all traces of chilli from your fingers before unwrapping a tampon and quickly change the subject !

Forestfly · 09/12/2003 18:37

Twink, along similar lines, always put on the lights the the bathroom before you put Preparation H on your piles. That way you will be sure that you didn't pick up the Bongella instead!! Boy, did it smart!

kayleigh · 09/12/2003 18:45

This is turning into a great thread

Thank you ForestFly.

Forestfly · 09/12/2003 18:46

I believe Deep Heat preparations cause trouble of a similar nature, or so DH tells me. And don't wash your private bits with Tea Tree & Mint shower gel.

(the last tip was for Girlies)

When i was doing my art foundation i got really into painting with bleach on ink, then i thought it would be a good idea to do a hand print which didn't hurt. Then i thought why the hell not i'll do a whole body print, that did hurt.

Also when i was in a sauna i sat back on the coals thinking it was a stool. That bloody murdered and i was mortified when the gym instructer had to check the burn on my bottom

In the middle of an ongoing family feud, my dad found out that his supposedly goody-goody church-going nephew (who was the cause of the feud) had a very realistic inflatable adult "doll", that was kept permanently inflated in his bedroom. My dad (wearing gloves) smeared a crucial orifice of it with the a freshly cut chilli and left some seeds in there.
All went quiet for a week or 2, then we heard that the nephew had had a short stay in hospital. That side of the family never told us the reason for the hospitalisation, but we think we know what happened!! Feud still ongoing, but now they just all ignore each other.

Forestfly · 09/12/2003 19:12

Thats so nasty!!!! But funny

I burnt my fingers cutting some chillis last NYE and I spent the night with my fingers in a glass of iced water and later it was v difficult to get to sleep. I was v careful in the bathroom.

sis · 09/12/2003 20:19

Forestfly, that must have been really scarey - I'm glad your ds recovered so quickly. AussieSim, I've done that too and now do not go anywhere near a chilli without latex gloves on!

boyandgirl · 10/12/2003 11:00

A bit late now, I know (at least, I sincerely hope so!), but washing the eyes with milk is actually better than using water, as water 'activates' chilli, but fat 'neutralises' it.
