Unexpected Item in Shagging Area

Regular MNer and have name changed in anticipation of this thread - I'm sharing in case this might be helpful for someone or if someone has a similar experience and can reassure me.

Had first and last DC 4.5 years ago. Very traumatic birth for both of us, long, long labour, episiotemy (sp?), forceps. I was very, very battered and bruised down below but healed well eventually.

After a few months when everything had settled down I noticed that I had much more vaginal discharge than before. I constantly felt wet and damp and my pants were a mess (I did warn you about the TMI). I felt that I got a bit "stale" smelling just a few hours after having a shower and became really self-conscious. Blush

Well, you know how it is with a new baby and everything else. Going to the doctors was way down the list of priorities and after IVF, pregnancy and birth I was not keen on having even more fiddling down below. But I eventually went a year ago and the very nice doctor checked me over, said there was nothing obviously wrong but that I had some very large skin tags on my fanjo wall which might be the cause of the increased discharge. She gave me antibiotics in case I had an infection but I was no better.

I eventually dragged myself back and got a referral to a Gynae consultant - my appointment is on Wednesday afternoon.

Apparently I might be able to choose to get my extra fanjo flaps cauterised off Shock but will find out more on Wednesday.

So, that's all. I'll let you know how the appointment went if anyone's interested (have already booked into nice restaurant for meal with DH following appt in case it is traumatic) Smile

Oops - I forgot to add the TMI warning to the title.

Sorry to anyone whose eyeballs were offended.

Just wanted to say two things - first of all, sorry to hear of this, sounds nasty, and secondly, what a fab title - are you a journo? If not you've missed your vocation!

brettgirl2 · 01/05/2012 08:03

Have you tried balance activ? I had increased discharge and this sorted it out. Obviously it wont get rid of the skin tags but you dont know for certain they are the cause. Maybe worth a try?

ggirl · 01/05/2012 08:09

Brilliant thread title..slightly disappointed though I was expecting something risque like an obscure item tucked up your nether regions

whomovedmychocolate · 01/05/2012 08:12
Wink

Skin tags are very common, they can be removed. Sometimes they fall off too

Do not stress, the gynae will sort it out.

Either that or get them hollowed out so at least you can slip through the self scan with a joint of pork hidden in them Grin

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 01/05/2012 14:21

BurningBridges - thank you. Only in my dreams am I a journo, just a boring office bod I'm afraid.

Brettgirl2 - thanks also, I will look up Balance Activ.

whomovedmychocolate - I will get down my local supermarket and try out this tip, then maybe ggirl will not be disappointed anymore Grin

Sorry about your problems even as a midwife can offer no advice.

FatherDougalMcGuire · 01/05/2012 22:45

NormaStanleyFletcher · 01/05/2012 22:48

Pouch of Douglas was what I expected

NormanTheForeman · 01/05/2012 22:52

Another vote for excellent thread title.......

Hope you get the problem sorted though!

PoohBearsHole · 01/05/2012 22:52

I have a skin tag on my fanjo Shock but I had forgotten about it until I had a bit of a bout of thrush where suddenly it became very very apparent Blush will be interested to hear what they say tbh and what they are likely to do. Good luck!

trixymalixy · 01/05/2012 22:56

Brilliant thread title!!

whomovedmychocolate · 02/05/2012 07:44

I have heard of internal skin tags before btw, quite often you find the owner has a genetic predisposition to them. They can be lasered off safely and effectively.

Or you have a bag for life. Your choice Grin

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 02/05/2012 08:26

Eek to the lasering of my lady garden!

Just trying to decide what to wear now as I'll be going straight from work this afternoon. Isn't it strange what we worry about when going to the gynae!

It doesn't hurt - it just smells a bit like chicken feathers.

(That didn't help did it?)

Pannacotta · 02/05/2012 10:19

Great thread title!

Poor you OP, you have really been through it, but well done for getting help.

I have had probems with thrush and bv since giving birth - had a bad tear and my undercarriage is not as it was - but I've also found Balance activ very helpful.

This might sound odd, but for me, following my tear my vagina is no longer neatly tucked away and is too open and somehow more prone to infection/inbalance. Does that make sense?

Good luck with your appt.

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 02/05/2012 14:39

Double eek to the chicken feathers smell!

Pannacotta also sorry for your undercarriage rearrangement. I think I got away lightly really.

Leaving for the hospital in about 1/2 an hour and going out (dinner with DH to cheer myself up) afterwards so will update later tonight.

Ok, so, slightly unexpected outcome of today's appointment.

Very nice consultant. Assured me that skin tags were not the cause of the excess, ahem, lady juice Blush

He put it down to hormone change, due to my age (38). Basically he said at 35 women start to ovulate less frequently, produce less progesterone, more oestrogen which can cause this problem.

Solutions - the pill or mirena (DH has had vasectomy so not on either) might help, otherwise I can wait til the menopause when everything dries up anyway!

I wil have a think about it and also try this balance activ some have recommended.

Had a nice meal with Dh including a few glasses of wine to cheer myself up.

I was just going to say that I would love to be fly on the wall on a meeting between you, TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench and AmateurArseDoctor. Let the wine flow, and experience sharing begin!

Good luck.

katamongthepigeons · 02/05/2012 22:30

I too have the unexpected item and the lady juice (I'm 43) - just want to say thank you as you have saved me a very embarrassing trip to GP/ consultant! Long live MN!

PoohBearsHole · 02/05/2012 23:11

Oh Fuck.

So we just sit and await the menopause then?

Oh Fuck

Glad it went well op Grin
