Sorry this is gross, but i am worried and looked online (prob not the best of ideas) and found that most of my symptoms seem to fit UC: different coloured stools which frequently changes but is mostly very loose.
Blood in stools (a lot), if i pass wind, i can pass pure blood but usually mess myself (very unpleasant), stomach churns constantly.
Being sent (eventually) for a colonoscopy to have a look see. Does anyone know what else this could be please? x

I agree - definitely see your gp & ask for a referral. It does sound a bit uc like.

Katy, maybe talk to g nhs direct tomorrow

spiderlight · 20/01/2012 22:28

Sorry. On stupid new phone!

KatyMac · 20/01/2012 22:28

I wouldn't have got an appointment today anyway

NHS direct or the walk-in tomorrow I guess

You see I don't know if the piles & the bands should fall off....or either/or it isn't very clear in the leaflet

KatyMac · 21/01/2012 08:18

Phoned NHS direct this am, but I have to go out....so it could be complicated

l4k · 21/01/2012 10:33

that doesn't sound fun,Katy.I've not got any experience with piles but it would seen someone needs to take a look.good luck.

My gp is arranging for me to have an abdominal scan and endoscopy.I do get gallstone like symptoms sometimes too,but surely that doesn't explain the blood and diarrhea .

chocol8-please be careful when stopping steroid use,you need to taper off very slowly and yes,you should have been given a blue card to carry.I have to take steroids daily as a replacement dose because of a pituitary condition.

take care all,and thanks.Back to gp next week for me.

KatyMac · 21/01/2012 16:38

You know when you ring NHS Direct for advice & then they panic; I really hate that

I rang for advice, expecting 'don't be silly, of course it's fine; you're fussing'

& they said 'oh maybe A&E, no we will get a Doctor out to you'

I think I would have rather 'don't be silly, of course it's fine; you're fussing'

& now they changed their mind & said hospital now - My mum is on her way

Well my bands are OK, maybe infected

I have a very high temperature which may be caused by the piles or by the fact that:
I have an infection in my undercarriage
I have a very bad cold
& a rather nasty zit by my ear

Is there a possibility I am run down? I'd better see by GP

Oh & have some anti-biotics; not really sure which bit of you they are for but they will probably help

l4k · 21/01/2012 19:19

bloody hell,Katy. Please go back to gp and make sure you really give them the full extent of your symptoms/illness.
Hope you start to feel a bit better with the anti biotics.

KatyMac · 21/01/2012 19:33

I guess

But I thought they didn't give ab for colds Hmm

No bloods & just 'don't worry'

TBH I feel like crap really rough.....but then I have a cold so I would & exhausted, completely shattered

I guess the infection below is enough to take the abs for

Maybe

Homework pending (DD's not mine)

KatyMac · 21/01/2012 21:49

I think, maybe, I had an abscess

I think, maybe, I no longer have an abscess

Possibly

MoaningMinnieWhingesAgain · 21/01/2012 22:25

chocol8 just checked on this thread for first time in ages - so glad you got your diagnosis sorted, hope you find the right treatment soon Smile I was one of the bossy fuckers at the beginning Wink

Chocol8 · 21/01/2012 23:07

Katy, glad you've been seen by the hospital but agree with the others that you need to see your GP first thing on Monday. I found it a good idea to write all my symptoms down as i thought of them and read them to the doctor/consultant - as i forget things easily and it could be something really important.

Good luck, i'm sure the AB's will help with any potential infection, better safe than sorry.
Thanks 14K, i'm reducing it one tablet a week, so was on 30mg, am on 25mg til Monday night and then will take 20mg for a week etc.

MoaningMinnie, thanks for being a bossy fucker lol - i needed a kick up the bum (well, not literally) - and now i have a diagnosis, i am in your position and want to push others to get there too. How are YOU doing?

UC is horrendous and i really don't think i would wish it on my worst enemy (not even my xh...and that's saying something!).

MoaningMinnieWhingesAgain · 21/01/2012 23:12

I am fine, no UC here but have looked after quite a few (nurse), it was great to see that you got sorted in the end and I was right lol There seems to have been quite a few bleeding bottom type threads lately and I try to boss them all the same Wink

KatyMac · 22/01/2012 13:25

I feel so much better this morning - I guess the doctor 'disturbed' something

But I'm taking the antibiotics anyway; seeing the GP? Not so sure, I've not bled for a while & the piles may be it?

spiderlight · 23/01/2012 13:45

Glad you're feeling better, Katy!! :o

Chocol8, what's happening about your IV steroids now? Are you still waiting for a bed?

Hey Spider, yes, still waiting to hear from the hospital to see if the PCT will ok me seeing a consultant. Meanwhile really suffering, as i have been in pain in the last couple of weeks - where i wasn't at all previously.

I have a docs appt on Friday to ask if they would try me on VSL3....and at that price, i'm gonna need a lorra luck!

Katie, glad to hear you're on the mend - are you still ok today?

MoaningMinnie - bossing MNers about, lol!

I took some books out from the library today and it's surprising that they seem to differ in small ways. I'm hoping to get some useful info about coping with it from them - more especially about diet.

Used my RADAR key again today as there was a queue in the ladies. Brilliant.

Sorry everyone - I'm quite, quite poorly again - off work if you can believe it (not sure I can) & off work tomorrow too

spiderlight · 23/01/2012 21:48

Oh Katy :( What sort of poorly?

Good luck with the VSL3, Chocol8! I was reading that it's as effective as Pentasa. Might ask my nurse about it next time I see her (April, all being well).

KatyMac · 23/01/2012 21:50

Ill, temp, pain, exhausted & weak

I guess the abscess filled again & burst again possibly more than once

& the abs are very strong
