QUICK! Should DP go to A&E?

I started a thread a few days ago about DP injuring his penis (me on top, it hit the bone instead of going back where it should have iyswim). People were sort of -oh, it'll be ok, it'll get better.

I just asked him to have a look and there's a black bruise 2 inches long on underside.

So-penile fracture? Anyone has any experience of that? Hmm

Normally I would be sympathetic and a bit Grin, but apparently it's a medical emergency and prompt treatment is necessary in case scaring forms and you end up with erectile dysfunction etc.

He balks at the idea of going to the nearby hospital (10 minutes on foot) with a bruised willy- but then he's got all the symptoms of the PF.

Am I overeacting or should I tell him to go?

He said he will listen to you lot.

Yes. Go. Now.

And then tell us what they said :o

Seriously, poor DP. That must have hurt. And yes, scarring could become a problem. Better get it checked.

winnybella · 22/03/2011 23:11

Thanks. Yes, I think he's been afraid what they'll say, but then it's not like he's got a can of coke stuck up there.

Anyone else, please?

Better safe than sorry!

ChippyMinton · 22/03/2011 23:14

no idea. but it should be quiet at this time of night.

winnybella · 22/03/2011 23:16

If it was just the surface bruise or something, I wouldn't worry too much, but it looks like inside bleed if that makes sense. And it's tender.

ponto · 22/03/2011 23:17

If it's been like it for a few days then it's not really an emergency and A&E won't thank him for coming in. Get a same day appointment at the GP's tomorrow

MrsShrekTheThird · 22/03/2011 23:17

think he should go. they won't laugh unlike some of us cruel mners Grin [sorry] Blush

Just remind him that on the 'junior doctors' prog last week there was a bloke with a whole toilet brush poking out of his arse.

Seriously, if he could have done damage then it's a massive worry. Better to go and either get treated or put his mind at rest.

canyou · 22/03/2011 23:18

Did embarrassing Illness/bodies whatever it is called have a segment on a man with a damaged /fractured penis, not that I watch or anything Blush
would this help make him go

winnybella · 22/03/2011 23:20

ponto- it happened 2 days ago, but we don't think the bruise was there before iyswim

Winny a bruise can take 24 hrs plus to come up, Ring NHS direct see what they say and tell us Grin

winnybella · 22/03/2011 23:31
Grin

Just read that to diagnose it they inject penis with liquid and do a scan. Stupidly I relayed this info to DP. He's shaking now.

He's got the black and blue bruise on the underside of the glans and then the skin covers the rest-but it's not just the skin iyswim.
Oh, I don't know.

madwomanintheattic · 22/03/2011 23:31

is he having any problems urinating or anything?

i'm thinking if it's just the bruise and a bit of tenderness Wink then he can wait until morning. but really should go and get it checked then...

if he's having other issues then he should go now.

MrsShrekTheThird · 22/03/2011 23:35

you could've been a bit more, er, selective with your 'relaying', couldn't you Wink
how many dc have you got...play the good ol' "look what I had to go through" card? (and stop before you say "and all you've got is a bruised willy") Grin

RitaMorgan · 22/03/2011 23:37

I wouldn't go to A&E, it's not really an emergency. Walk-in centre maybe?

winnybella · 22/03/2011 23:38

Ah, but I'm in Paris- I think it should be ok.

No problem urinating, but when he supposedly got erection it hurt.

It's more like a haematoma-looks nasty tbh.

I guess it could wait til tomorrow. He, otoh, is scared now and thinks of going.

I shouldn't have googled Hmm

winnybella · 22/03/2011 23:40

Rita-afaik, we don't have those here in paris, although I could be wrong.

Oh God.

He called his doctor this morning and he sent him a to a hospital- they saw him there and apparently he will need surgery Shock

Waiting to find out whether it'll be today.

Oh God.

mummynoseynora · 23/03/2011 08:33

if its any consolation I have kind of had this situation - caused in a similar way! Grin DH became very swollen and had to go to a&e - they were concerned and said we did the right thing as there could have been something twisted which needed surgery, but luckily for him I just bashed him! Grin Blush

loopylou6 · 23/03/2011 08:55

Bloody hell Winny Shock Hope all turns out ok.

winnybella · 23/03/2011 09:10

I know, I feel so guilty.
Have been googling post-surgery complications- nasty stuff and not that uncommon.
Still waiting to hear from him.

I don't think he'll let me be on top ever again Grin

OP posts:
TragicallyHip · 23/03/2011 09:27

Oh no! Shock

He'll be out of action for a while then Wink

Jacksmania · 23/03/2011 13:42

Bloody hell Shock!

Sorry about all the , it's really not funny when a bruised penis turns that serious.
Poor DH. I hope he'll be ok soon!!!!

winnybella · 23/03/2011 13:48

In the end they sent him home with tramadol and industrial-strength anti-inflammatories. His doctor wasn't 100% sure that it's the right decision and I'm not so sure either as supposedly the new thinking is to do surgery to at least remove the haematoma and check for damage to the tissue.

Oh well, I guess we'll have to wait and see.
