My lungs and stomach hurt from days of coughing

I've been to docs XmascarolOfFact with similar, very very sore in centre of my chest, which doc thinks is windpipe inflamed. No antibiotics so far, don't feel really ill TBH but wanted to get chest checked with it being so sore. Not coughing anything up, so been given Pholcodine that others mentioned further up the thread.

Damn it they didn't have the pholcodine linctus in our chemist! Got the benylin, night nurse, actifed, lemsips and olbas oil though... Just realised its the adult Benylen when I got home (bangs head on wall) so what do I do? Can I give really small dose to ds (4.3) or not? Damn it cause its bloody treacherous driving here :(

ReadytheRedNoseReindeer · 20/12/2010 12:15

got it here too, very thirsty, no appetite, the nasty hacking cough, no pelvic floor control Blush dd2 has started it now, and is a very poorly little person. will be going to get pholcodine after lunch, although have a doctors appt later for the cough just to get my chest checked. it's a horrid virus, I spent the weekend burning up.

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 22/12/2010 11:26

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed the slight nose bleeds when the Dc's wake up in the mornings? Both my Dc's are having this. It seems a bit odd to me.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 22/12/2010 11:30

Please don't say this is what I have. Just a thumpy head and a sore throat for me at the moment. And a bad case of the weeps
dd has started with the tummy bug this morning.

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 22/12/2010 11:36

Both my Dc's had thumping headaches at the start too Kitten :(

Get the Nurofen and the Vicks and the simple linctus ready!

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 22/12/2010 11:48

:(
I know I'm not right cos that just made me burst into tears. Bloody hell. I really really really want to spend christmas with my family.

TheMonster · 22/12/2010 11:55

I'm on round three of it Sad

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 22/12/2010 12:13

Oh Kitten, don't get upset; it's just one of those things...get yourself dosed up now, try to rest and try to eat. I find Vit C is a good boost before you get these bugs. Hope you all feel better soon.

clumsymumsnowdriftbaby · 22/12/2010 12:14

oh god oh god,so this is whats wrong with us...poor dd's had it for a week now and 3 month old ds is just coming down with it,ive had it for a week and a half.and dp is fine, but refuses to take any time off work to look after us Sad ive lost my voice too...

clumsymumsnowdriftbaby · 22/12/2010 12:16

dd (2) is very confused, and keeps asking why i wont talk to her Sad

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 22/12/2010 12:18

Aw :( clumsey.

yes, my Ds actually sleep walked and was delerious one night. Was very strange. He doesn't remember a thing!

clumsymumsnowdriftbaby · 22/12/2010 12:21

blimey, that must have been very odd Confused

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 22/12/2010 12:29

Yes it really was! Xmas Grin

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 22/12/2010 13:24

I always cry when I'm not feeling well Blush

dd is already seeming a lot better - shes had a bit of toast. So I think it must be two separate things. From her point of view if we are going 48 hours after last episode then we are good to go arent we? Just need for me to have the same miraculous recovery.

wonderif · 22/12/2010 18:44

just wondering should i go to gp ? i have had this for 6 days, pain in chest is unreal,i am not a smoker thank god but every time i cough jesus the pain.

temp up and down, with help from painkillers, aches and pains the usual but the breathing and chest is the worse !

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 22/12/2010 20:01

Perhaps you should phone and speak to the GP wonderif. Swine flu is around again...

wonderif · 22/12/2010 21:55

did phone and have got an antibiotic

outinthesticksmummy · 22/12/2010 22:17

dd1 has had this since Monday ....bugger bugger bugger thought she would be clear for Sat .....Its hell tho , as we are building a house at the moment so living between Grandmas and a static caravan .....and its flippen freezing in there.....Grandma has a severe phobia about child hood illnesses , thinks she's going to catch everything .....we're just off the back of a sick bug too. I am so cross tho ....as they won't go near her and actually shut the dor on her yesterday and told her they didn't want her germs Sad she's only 5 !!!!!!

Really really wish we were in our own house where i could just leave her in bed or slob in her pj's on the sofa

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 22/12/2010 22:25

out - what a nightmare :(

hope they do the trick wonderif.

newshoesonmonday · 22/12/2010 22:29

another one with the painful chest - on left side, really achy/burny. gp said have pulled muscle from coughing but feels 'heavy'. nearly as painful as kicking myself for having a naff pelvic floor - proper crimbo style peeing myself slightly with this cough.

i've had flu jab this year. will that prevent the swine flu. coughing for two weeks now and feeling worse.

hang in there veryone

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 22/12/2010 22:41

Good stuff wonderif.

Newshoes, my Mum has the flu jab every year and was told that this year it has the swine flu vaccine in it too, so if that's the case throughout, then you should be fine.

GroovyGretel · 22/12/2010 22:57

I've had this for 5 days now and I'm completely fed up Sad.

I've had the whole temperature thing (40 degrees), the shivers and shakes, the nose like Niagara, the thumping head, the fuzzy ears...gah, I've barely the energy to type. Am mainlining day nurse and night nurse.

DS is now coming down with the cough (but no sign of temp as yet).

Feeling even worse as I'm O neg and they keep begging for blood donors and I just can't help.

SlightlyTubbyHali · 22/12/2010 23:01

I've got it and my DD's have just had the same. I think they both had a worse version at half term.

In its nastier incarnation DD1 had a temperature off and on for over a week, and DD2 ended up with an inhaler (she's barely one year old).

Whatever it is, it's the pits.
