I don't want to go.

Have had terrible soreness and itchiness down below for weeks. It's not thrush and I'm not sure it's cystitis (doesn't hurt weeing, does hurt having sex). Everyhting just seems swollen. I posted a few weeks back about it all starting when DP got some aloe vera toilet paper. Not using it any more, but the itchiness is still there and is worse if anything.

Now I've finally booked a doc's appointment (female one, phew) and she's gonna have to look at my fanjo and I'm bricking it.

Give us a hug someone.

Oh you poor thing. With any luck she will advise an antihistamine and going commando for a while. What a horrible thing to happen. Can you buy yourself an ice-cream on the way home??

PuppyMonkey · 16/07/2010 11:04

Yes I bloody well can, can't I?

Have to take DD2 with me as DP is working, she's three and will probbaly make the whole thing worse by saying "What you doing?" "What's that mummy?" as the doc looks up me jaxy.

I said GIVE US A HUG!!!!

NoahAndTheWhale · 16/07/2010 13:09

When is the appointment?

When I had to take DD for a coil check (me not her) she was 3 I think and luckily didn't take any interest at all. She did question me thoroughly afterwards though.

Iklboo · 16/07/2010 13:09

I thought it was live yoghurt you used on itchy fanjos, not ice cream

PuppyMonkey · 16/07/2010 13:10

Thank you Noah. 2.50pm.... I'm so nervous not fair!

CuppaTeaJanice · 16/07/2010 13:20

HUG!!!!

Just picture the doc naked.

Well it works for speeches and job interviews, so might work for fanjo gazing too?!!

Thanks guys.

No Fio, still the same washing powder. I'm sure it was the aloe vera toilet roll that set me off, I'm just surprised I've still got the soreness when i stopped using it weeks ago now.

Could it be thrush?

Itchy always suggests thrush to me. Try some Canestan cream and see if it eases it.

PuppyMonkey · 16/07/2010 13:29

Have tried thrush cream for a week or so and it got worse. Also no thrush like discharge, tmi sorry!

zam72 · 16/07/2010 13:40

Could it be bacterial vaginosis? Maybe the toilet paper has upset the natural microbial flora/pH of your bits and so other bugs have been able to take hold (or you're a bit run down maybe?). Anyway, vaginosis is itchy and red/swollen feeling. Sore during sex too. One of the main things with that is that it is distinctively whiffy (fishy! lovely, eh?), especially after sex. So if you haven't noticed that delight then its probably not I guess. If it is, then its just a week of rather horrible antibiotics that you must not at all drink with or bad things happen. And the antibiotics themselves aren't too great...leaves a nasty taste in your mouth. Good Luck at the Dr's - hate going for mortifying things like that but they've seen it all before.

PuppyMonkey · 16/07/2010 13:42

Zam, never heard of that... but now you mention it with the smell... Will let you know if you're right!

Goodness, I hope none of my patients try and imagine me naked while examining their nethers!

It'll be fine- all in a days work for a female GP, so don't be embarrassed. I see several vaginas per day and forget that it isn't 'normal' for everyone!

PuppyMonkey · 16/07/2010 15:37

Have been phew! Probably thrush, she reckons and has given me fluczomole (sp) tablet - saying even if it isn't thrush it'll stop the soreness/ itching. Phew phew phew. She reckons that toilet roll prob threw my ph balance off allowing the thriush to thrive. Phew phew phew.

DD was a star throughout the examination and she got a sticker for being a good girl.

I asked for one too.

I forgot to ask her that tbh twopeople. Caneston is chlora something or other while what she gave me today was Fluconazole capsule. Don't know if that makes a difference????

OP posts:
juuule · 16/07/2010 16:50

Canestan contains clotrimazole.
Maybe it wasn't strong enough or you didn't apply enough or often enough. Thrush can be quite stubborn once it gets a hold.
Hopefully the fluconazole will work where the Canestan didn't.

piratecat · 16/07/2010 17:01

i had thrush without the discharge once and the oral tablet worked fine. i have also had thrush with discharge and had to have two lots of the oral table a week aprtt, and pessaries. sometimes it can take hold, yes so prepare for that. Hopefully tho it will start to feel better in a few days!

PuppyMonkey · 16/07/2010 17:12

She said I'd feel better in a day or two... but if any probs I've got to go back in two weeks and have swabs and stuff, so fingers crossed it clears up!

OP posts:
Dumbledoresgirl · 16/07/2010 17:19

Did she give you a tablet for dh too? Have you been having sex? (I thought you said you had). If you have thrush, you can give it to dh who can have no symptoms but can give it right back to you.

PuppyMonkey · 16/07/2010 17:23

No just me... oh poo, that would be just our luck wouldn't it?

OP posts:
PuppyMonkey · 16/07/2010 17:42

Oh yes, and she said to use hydrocortisone cream to help with the itching...which I was a bit about as i always thought you shouldn't put that "down there." But I questioned it and she was most insistent to use that - plus not to use perfiumed soaps and stuff just Simple or E45 etc.

OP posts:
piratecat · 16/07/2010 17:53

i had the normal canestan (red tube) and it didn't help, but a tiny bit of the canestan with the hydracortisone was good. she was loathe to give it to me, but thought in the sever case it may help and it did. tbh i think i used it twice.

I think it's ok for your dp to use the normal canestan red cream, i didn't think they gave men a tablet?
