Has anybody received their postal votes yet? We are in Hertfordshire if relevant. Got the confirmation of registration ages ago, but feels like we are cutting it fine!

not yet - in London. first time I've applied for one and the post here can be v flaky.

nettii2414 · 25/06/2024 23:56

Nope, not arrived yet in Norfolk. Going on holiday Monday so really worried it won't be here. Registered weeks ago so expected it to be here by now. If I'd known I would have done a proxy vote instead.

AnnieSnap · 26/06/2024 00:45

Ours arrived early last week. We filled them in and posted them last Friday.

Chucklit · 26/06/2024 01:40

Mine came today. Wirral.

Nat6999 · 26/06/2024 02:53

Filled mine in yesterday, ds is going to post it for me today. I only reregistered for postal voting on the Friday before last & got my voting papers by last Tuesday.

dontcryformeargentina · 26/06/2024 09:12

London. Got mine last week, posted yesterday

TheDarkMonarch · 26/06/2024 09:46

eccleshallmama · 26/06/2024 09:52

I’m in Staffordshire and we got ours on Friday, posted back on Saturday. I thought that was cutting it fine, to be honest. I’m not sure if a proxy vote would have been a better way of doing it.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 26/06/2024 14:33

Given that practically the whole of Scotland will be on holiday from this week it's appalling that postal votes still haven't arrived.

They really should arrive a minimum of two weeks before the election.

BloodandGlitter · 26/06/2024 14:35

Ours arrived this morning.

TheSixQuarks · 26/06/2024 19:44

Ours haven't arrived in Scotland. Very angry that this has happened, and unsure it wasn't a deliberate tactic.

You need to wrestle back your right to vote. Are you going to contact your local Member of Parliament?

That's how it feels to me too.

Bells3032 · 26/06/2024 23:09

Also in Hertfordshire..they said they're sending out the last batch today when I called yesterday. But mine arrived in the post this morning.

EmeraldRoulette · 26/06/2024 23:19

Mum's hasn't arrived, she's fretting. Not sure what to do beyond waiting but how long to wait?

Where I am you can contact the council 4 working days (Friday) before and request a new one is issued. But the voter must go to the council offices themselves to pick it up, probably Monday or Tuesday. The system is ridiculous. If someone can't vote in person on Thursday they're unlikely to be able to take a trip into the city to pick up the postal vote 3 days prior.

Thank you

so if it doesn't arrive, she can't do a last minute proxy either?

this was on to do list for tomorrow to look this up so appreciate the help, thank you.

tbh even if it arrives, the post is so poor I'm not convinced it will get there in time.

TheSixQuarks · 27/06/2024 05:41

@EmeraldRoulette it's too late for a proxy vote.

franke · 27/06/2024 05:49

No. I’m in Germany. I doubt it will arrive in time. I can't arrange a proxy vote as I don't know anyone in my old constituency.

EmeraldRoulette · 27/06/2024 12:37

It's such a shame.

It was just to avoid the taxi fare as mum can't go alone or via public transport but now it seems we should have just accepted the taxi fare. The fare to the council office would literally be ten times as much I think.

I also feel like Royal Mail shouldn't have the contract for this. I don't get many things in the post but my impression is that relying on them to get the votes there in time doesn't seem like a plan.

Contact her MP. They will sort it!

TheSixQuarks · 27/06/2024 13:41

I contacted my council this morning who were very helpful. They said if it hasn't arrived tomorrow morning they will reissue it and if necessary deliver it by hand. Try your council.

ColinRobinsonsFart · 27/06/2024 13:48

Not arrived yet - going on holiday on Saturday...😔

Blackcats7 · 27/06/2024 13:53

Got mine more than a week ago and already posted it. I am in Hampshire.
