That’s a shame, I was hoping for a Portillo moment.

Westfacing · 24/05/2024 19:19

Yes, so was I but apparently Rees-Mogg is a potential Portillo Moment!

What a shame ..... not

Blackcats7 · 24/05/2024 19:20

Woohoo! Who will be next….?

Bovrilla · 24/05/2024 19:21

Seeya Govey, don't let the door hit your face on the way out 👋

Bane of the lives of teachers, who are still teaching his hideous curriculum/exam reforms.

Iamacatslave · 24/05/2024 19:22

Horrible little weasel of a man.

RoseAndRose · 24/05/2024 19:24

Deeply unpopular with many (because of the policies he is associated with), he was possibly the last remaining one who had any modicum of administrative competence

This. The damage he personally has done to the education system is incalculable.

yes, but I think as another pp has observed there is the potential for quite a few Portillo moments in the early hours of 5th July still.

jumped before the electorate pushed.

That was my first thought too! Very interested to see the final total of those not standing again.

Violetparis · 24/05/2024 19:43

Seen tweets saying Andrea Leadsom is going to announce she is standing down.

Whatshallabee · 24/05/2024 19:48

I want them all to stand down apart from Sunak, Braverman and Rees-Mogg and then I want them to lose their seats on election night.

AutumnCrow · 24/05/2024 19:48

My Portillo moments will be

Penny Mordaunt
Caroline Nokes
Maria Miller
and the Greens not winning Brighton Pav

Not necessarily in that order.

Like him or not, I agree he was competent among idiots. If he'd been better looking he'd have been Prime Minister.

noblegiraffe · 24/05/2024 19:50

He destroyed education, the current catastrophe is his legacy.

He lies as easily as he breathes. He said he often goes for a drive to test his eyesight to support Dominic Cummings. He said the Queen supports Brexit.

He has no shame.

Politics will be better for his departure.

Lonelycrab · 24/05/2024 19:52

They’re dropping like flies

What a shame

AutumnCrow · 24/05/2024 19:55

He’s got sniffy nose issues allegedly, hayfever or something sad.

noblegiraffe · 24/05/2024 19:56

He has a majority of 18,000 and still thought he was going to lose.

He definitely knows which way the wind is blowing.

HumphreyCobblers · 24/05/2024 20:02

He put books back into prisons and really pushed education in prison, it was a shame he was moved on before he could get to grips with it.

There's no talent left at all.

Even a lot of the headbangers like Anderson and Gullis will surely be voted out.

I put books in prisons, push for education in prison, and have volunteered in prison education wings (including male 'lifers', as it happens, who have come through the Gove System of schooling - most of whom are destined for release one day, functionally illiterate, and at even higher risk of recidivism without basic literacy and general knowledge).

I help people of all ages fill forms in.

Gove made a right hash of school education.

I'm soooooo hoping Braveman loses her seat. She's my MP.

Currently electoral calculus has Tory's reducing from 2019.

So from 60% to 29% of the vote.

Labour up to 32%.

Lib Dem's up 5%.

But scarily reform is predicted 15% of the vote.

Tactical voting could change everything and although it's predicted a Labour win this is a Tory stronghold area.

noblegiraffe · 24/05/2024 20:31

but not currently predicted to win any seats.

There wasn’t much talent left after Johnson’s purge.
