killpeppa · 23/02/2014 22:55

cantbeatanotherone
its a malt rye bread (me thinks).
Its scrummy.

Slainte · 23/02/2014 22:56

I'd love some Maltana with a thick slab of butter and a cup of tea now.

anothernumberone · 23/02/2014 22:56

I need to hunt it down, I have never heard of it.

encyclogirl · 23/02/2014 22:57

This Tayto bars are vom. I live in Cork and a huge treat is a box of hot salty popcorn with a giant bag of Malteesers dumped in. Now that is yum.

Poor Lottie, she was sharing a memory / story about her late DH for god's sake.

Slainte · 23/02/2014 23:03

Charley What about Brennan's batch? Or a St Catherine's loaf? I miss picking the bread strips off the "heel" of them.

treaclesoda · 23/02/2014 23:06

I'd kill for some Perri cheese popcorn.

AFingerofFudge · 23/02/2014 23:17

My parents were from Mayo, and so many of these bring back lovely memories.
We spent all our summers over there, and they are now buried over there, so now we go over with our children, just like they did with us (although we no longer take that torturous Liverpool-Dublin ferry!) Sad though as lots of the relatives have now died, and things have changed..but still love going.

Anyhow, one of the memories of my mum are when she'd raise her eyes to heaven and exclaim either "sweet sacrament" or "jesus, mary and the joseph". One of my cousins does it now and makes me laugh with the sorrowful expression on her face!

Discovered recently that ocado sells Barry's tea!! Now just need to persuade them to sell club orange and Tayto and we'll be sorted. My DC's have developed a habit for both of them, our car is laden at the end of the holidays

lamandler · 23/02/2014 23:18

Watched Moone Boy earlier now this, properly homesick. Had DCs back in Ireland last week and they were thoroughly confused by the guards, being bold, "well" instead of hello and lots of where's yer mammy.

Then went up North to ILs and they learned about coupons and scelps.

Jaysus can you get Veda in London?!!!

encyclogirl · 23/02/2014 23:20

Oh God Barry's Tea. It's yer only man!

treaclesoda · 23/02/2014 23:21

now, is that a skelp as in 'I'll give ye a skelp round the back o' the legs for being bold' or a skelph as in a teeny piece of wood that has got stuck in your finger and needs pulled out with tweezers? Grin
