do you know where to get one?

fanjolina · 30/12/2009 12:08

how illegal are they? cos I want one but DH won't let me. he says they are illegal. (stroppy huff).

cornsilkcremeeggspotter · 30/12/2009 12:10

yes how illegal? I'm scared to get one.

roisin · 30/12/2009 12:14

They are illegal. Well, actually the cards aren't, because you can use them legitimately, but downloading the games is the same as pirate DVDs.

fanjolina · 30/12/2009 12:20

so you are liable to be fined if they do one of the big crack downs like they sometimes do with stealing music? or is it a prisonable offence?

CoqAuVin · 30/12/2009 13:16

i dont do it.
" a friend " does
arf

They are called r4i I believe. A friend has just ordered 2 for his dds.

CremeDeMenthe · 30/12/2009 15:17

i get mine from "friend of friend" . No downloading required - it comes with CDs full of games. Untraceable.

DoesntTheTurkeyDragOn · 30/12/2009 15:27

You can get an NDSTTi version too.

Allegedly.

NorbertDentressAngel · 30/12/2009 15:30

aaah is this why a friends card of games for their DS didn't work on DD's DSi?

fanjolina · 30/12/2009 16:20

so you can them preloaded CDM? maybe DH wouldn't be so anti that.

ShirleyKnott · 30/12/2009 23:14

right dh says the q REALLy is this

"Is there an equivalent for the R4DS cart for the Nintendo DSi that will allow my kids to play homebrew apps and their saved games?"

whifflegarden · 31/12/2009 00:21

Try the acekard 2i
I think it's newer generation than R4.
For the record, it is illegal to download unpaid for DS games (blah blah blah). hth

BadgersPaws · 31/12/2009 10:02

Using the gadget to play games that you haven't paid for (whether downloaded from the internet or copied by a friend) is both illegal and immoral.

If there is a big crack down on downloading then there is a chance that you will be caught and you will, quite frankly, deserve it.

I find it disturbing that there's such open and frank discussion on here about what is basically theft... You could also be landing Mumsnet in trouble if they're viewed as assisting people in stealing software.

DoesntTheTurkeyDragOn · 31/12/2009 12:46

BadgersPaws, have you never copied a friend's CD?
