I had this issue with Microsoft office too, please help.
When I sell on ebay I download the sales.
If I have sold 2 of something or 3 of something, it says I have in a seperate column. But it will only have the cost of one in the COST column. So if its 99p it will only have 99p, not 2.97, if i have sold 3.
I am SURE there must be a way to get it to take into consideration the quanitity column. But I have NO IDEA what im doing. Please help.
Really basic walkthrough required.

You need to have a "total" column which will contain a formula

if your quantity column is E and your cost column is F the formula would be

=E1*F1

then you copy the formula all the way down your "total" column using Edit > Fill > Down

charliecat · 10/06/2008 13:54

Right thank you...chances are I will be back saying, sorry didnt get that. Thank you again...will go try...

charliecat · 10/06/2008 14:00

ok, its L and M, i am putting the box(where i would like the total just under M its letting me put in the details L2*M2 but when i go to edit, fill, the down word is not pressable, you know you can see it but its grey.
What am I doing wrong?
Told ya id be back Sorry

Have you highlighted the cells underneath the cell with the formula in it?

charliecat · 10/06/2008 14:02

Hmm, i ve tried and it said name? I have put the formula up where it says E=

Have you made column N your "Total" column?

You don't need to type the formula in the bar at the top: type it directly into the cell

If you are on row 10 type in exactly this:

=L10*M10

and it will give you the total

If the fill function isn't working, you can copy and paste the formula into the cells below (although that is more time consuming)

charliecat · 10/06/2008 14:10

Right got the first one done. Why isnt the fill working? Where should I have the box highlighting beore I got to edit fill? I am very grateful for your help BTW

if you click on the cell with the formula in it, then drag your mouse down to highlight all the cells in that column underneath the formula, you should be able to use the Fill Down option - I'm not sure why it isn't working without being able to see what you're seeing iyswim

charliecat · 10/06/2008 14:20

iT WONT LET ME DRAG IT WILL IF ITS SAYING 99 P, BUT NOT WITH THE FORMULA ARGH

OP posts:
Molesworth · 10/06/2008 14:22

click away from the cell with the formula in, then click back on it once and drag - it won't let you drag if you are editing the cell

OP posts:
Molesworth · 10/06/2008 14:54

OK what you need to do is this

in yoru "Total Price" column you need to enter this formula

=C1+D1+E1

or

=SUM(C1:E1)

either will do the same thing - it will add the total, P&P and Insurance to give you your proper total price

Molesworth · 10/06/2008 14:55

PS substitute whichever row you are on for the "1" in that formula

HTH
