I posted ages ago with the same dilemma and I still own the same phone now a year on
😆 I'm getting on my wick, it's a ridiculous indecisive pastime looking at specs, countless YouTube videos explaining things that that shouldn't even matter.

Under £400

Not huge.

No Google pixels.

No iPhones

I'd love some user experiences if you've got time.

Thanks

The motorola g100 and g10 are nice. I don't think they are still made but any relation of theirs is probably fine.

EducatingArti · 12/10/2024 13:38

Have a look a Oppo. I'm very pleased with mine!

iPreferBooks · 12/10/2024 13:39

As long as you don't do wireless charging the Samsung A range is good. I have A52s (which has a headphone jack still). Although I don't think it's sold on the Samsung website anymore - its equivalent would be the A54.

Jasmin71 · 12/10/2024 13:40

A54 samsung

urghhh47 · 12/10/2024 13:41

Well I love my pixel but if you want something different go on YouTube and put in best phone under 400£ and you'll be given good recommendations.

IdaPrentice · 12/10/2024 13:42

After spending hours and hours last year comparing reviews and prices for various android phones (in the low-cost category, to buy outright not on a contract), in the end I went for a Nokia - yes it is a smart phone! Nokia G60. I'm happy with it. Got it on Amazon in the end.

fruitpastille · 12/10/2024 13:51

Currently dh and I have samsung A15. Decent phone. Way under 400 quid. Bought it in full from local phone shop and pay £5 a month for my smarty sim - 5g of data is plenty as I'm usually on WiFi.

VeryQuaintIrene · 12/10/2024 13:54

My xiaomi Redmi phone has been great.

Edited

I have this and it's great, love the headphone jack!

Look on back market for good deals.

Depends what you use it for. Personally the Samsung S10 or S21 ultra are amazing for photos.

Dd has the A04s which is a lovely phone, my dsc have the A53 I think and rate it

CointreauVersial · 12/10/2024 14:08

I second Back Market as a great source. I bought a refurbished Samsung S21 recently - pretty sure was completely unused. Would have been about £750 new, but it's a model from a couple of years ago so cost about a third of that. It's excellent.

SallyWD · 12/10/2024 14:09

A few months ago, I got a Samsung Galaxy A55 5g. Very pleased with it. I got a deal with ID Mobile, which included thr new phone and 100GB data each month for only £18.99 a month!
It's a really good phone.

Tcateh · 12/10/2024 14:09

Oops posted too soon.

Oppo Find?
Redmi

Galaxy - was thinking to get the A55. Or a slightly older S series one.
I saw both in Tesco and the S23 was so lovely. Out of my price range new, but am keeping an eye on Facebook as lots of people are upgrading. Also have been looking on back market for any S series.

I was a galaxy person but crossed over to Huawei which I've bloody loved. I have the P smart now, 2019.

It's just so simple.

They part sold to Honor, does anyone have an Honor phone?

Could you lovely people recommend the model you have of those makes mentioned.

Is the Samsung A15 still pretty capable?

Will look thanks.

Also will look at others specifically mentioned.

I have a Motorola this time. It's fine.

Globules · 12/10/2024 14:14

I've just got me one of these.

It's my third Redmi over 8 years. I love them. This new one, the camera is outstanding.

I went for the 4G over 5G, as the 4G has a memory card slot, and 5G didn't add much to my life. Plus it's cheaper.

My new phone cost £167. I can't recommend highly enough.

EducatingArti · 12/10/2024 14:15

My Oppo model says CPH 2021 but I'm guessing there are more up to date models as I have had mine for years!

EducatingArti · 12/10/2024 14:16

Oh, my Oppo also says A series

Rollercoaster1920 · 12/10/2024 14:18

Why not a pixel? After using galaxy's I got a 6a a couple of years back. The lack of bloat approval apps is great. Camera too.

Motorola and Nokia have quite clean operating systems too which helps.

friskybivalves · 12/10/2024 14:21

I hated my Pixel with a passion. Impossible to navigate between webpages and back to rest of operating system.

I chucked it in a drawer and got the samsung A54 on amazon refurbished for around £180? It is fab.

friskybivalves · 12/10/2024 14:22

amzn.eu/d/8TCj7Qm

Like this but comes in other colours.

friskybivalves · 12/10/2024 14:25

I have also had Redmi phones but they have their own OS which takes a bit of getting used to and come with a lot of bloatware. A lot of bang for your buck though.

BarbaraHoward · 12/10/2024 14:25

We've had a series of Motorola Edge phones between us (I'm a dropper Blush) and been happy with them.

Missionimprobable · 12/10/2024 14:26

I've just bought the Galaxy A15 in yellow it's fab!
If you look on EE website they sell "good as new" phones.
The salesperson told me these were phones people have ordered and decided not to keep, basically brand new.
