Don't want to post my actual site up here but can anyone suggest why I'm not coming up on Google? I made it on iWeb and have an "email me" faciilty which is bringing in lots of spam?!

You need to tell Google that your site is there first. And even when you have done that it may still take quite a while for Google to show your site in its listings. The more sites your site links to the faster Google will show it and the faster it will move up the ranking.

You can subit your site to Google from here and to other search engines from http://freewebsubmission.com/here

Sorry about the last link...missed the space...should be here

Thanks for that MunnziesDH - will investigate.
Do I need to link to other sites (easy) or do they need to link back to me (much harder)?

If you link to sites which have the same kind of theme as yours then Google should give quite a good rating. Obviously if you can get sites to link back to yours then more people will see it and your rating on the list will increase.

Or you could go with something like Google AdWords which will also bring in a little cash from your site.

Have you tried OPD dmoz.org/, this is the public edited directory which forms the basis for the google and yahoo directories, if you look in the faqs, there is a large section about submitting your sites to be reviewed. It might in the long run, give your site a broader audience. Worth a try and it won't cost you anything.
