I am bouncing with excitement as I can look forward to upgrading my 3GS

Do You think it will bring down the price of the standard iPhone 4? I'm not bothered about getting the 4s just want to upgrade from my rubbish nokia.

SoupDragon · 05/10/2011 18:40

Probably. I think it usually does.

I have been waiting ages to upgrade. Was due in June but was too £££ so Ive been waiting but my battery is really crap now. Im not bothered whether it's a 4 or 4S just want a newer model that works without paying masses

bananamam · 05/10/2011 18:46

At last an iPhone with a decent camera

nancerama · 05/10/2011 18:55

I really really really want one, but now I'm out of contract on my 3GS, I've gone sim only and paying only £15 a month.

I'm not sure I can justify an extra £20 a month, PLUS a few hundred £s for the phone too :(

JJ · 05/10/2011 19:00

Me too, me too, me too. I didn't upgrade to the 4, am really looking forward to this one.

SoupDragon · 05/10/2011 19:12

I skipped the 4 too as I was waiting for the next one.

I justify the extra cost because it is much more than a phone, it also organises my life, plays my music and keeps the children occupied.

I got my 3GS free with a £35 contract,(fairly new out) I'm now PAYG but won't get a 4 until it's a similar price.

niceguy2 · 05/10/2011 22:16

I've a 4 and I'm especially interested in the upgraded camera & Siri.

The optics sound better but the iphone 4 camera was already very awesome. Noone will notice the difference between 720p & 1080p. The 4 camera is already f2.8 so an increase to f2.4 is a small but nonetheless a welcome improvement for low light photography. But the main reason I'm interested in the camera is because it won't take so flipping long to start!!!!

Siri sounds very cool but I'll be very impressed if it can understand the scouse accent.

SoupDragon · 05/10/2011 22:20

I am worried that Siri will go the way of all my family members and ignore every word I say.

I wonder if there ismthe option of a male voice...?

If you're getting a phone for its camera, look at the Nokia N8. Best camera phone bar none and cheaper than any iPhone.

Not the same apps as for Apple/Android, but all the important stuff is there.

SoupDragon · 06/10/2011 10:58

I have a camera for a camera :) My phone is my phone/personal organiser/game centre which just happens to have a camera.

JJ · 06/10/2011 12:05

Ooh, Barry White as the male voice! I have a camera for a camera, too, and a little iPod for an iPod. I use mine for the reminders (and the phone stuff) - seriously excited about Siri. I will welcome our robot overlords with singing and praise when they arrive, especially if they organise my life.

SoupDragon · 06/10/2011 13:01

I'm hoping for Sean Bean.

I don't actually hold out much hope for Siri though as even my talking car doesn't listen to me.

My phone is my iPod because, until i got it, I was a refusenik. I even read my book on it now as it synchs with iboks on my iPad. [sigh]

SoupDragon · 06/10/2011 13:26

I have just ordered my micro SIM to get ahead of the game :o

I haven't missed an iPhone model yet so I don't suppose I'll miss this one. Have to decide if I can be bothered to sell my iPhone 4 or go onto a contract. Not too keen on contracts tbh but selling phones is a shedload of hassle.

Dillydollydaydream · 09/10/2011 16:24

Have reserved an iPhone 4s. Hopefully I'll get it Friday but not sure what stock is likely to be like. My 3GS will seem ancient in comparison!

HarrietJones · 09/10/2011 17:04

Just been looking at prices on O2 . They don't seem to have brought the 4 prices down yet. £42 a month to get it free & £41 for the 4S Hmm

Shinyshoes1 · 09/10/2011 17:09

I cant wait i'm getting it on the 14th hopefully and existing O2 customers can get the iphone 4S FREE on an 18 or 24 month contract !! Woohooo !!

The monthly tarrif is the same as what i'm on now

GuillotinedMaryLacey · 09/10/2011 17:26

£41 + £6 or £10 data? That's only the 16GB though. Prices are extortionate, far more than I've ever paid for any of my 4 iPhone models. My iPhones were always £35 on 18 month contract and phone cost £59 for the biggest size. Even on a 24 month contract now that's going to cost £270 for my 'usual' model phone and be a couple of quid extra, nearer £40 for the (smaller) data bolt on.

SayGhoulNowSayWitch · 09/10/2011 17:41

Brian Blessed for the voice.... :o

Really want to upgrade my 3GS but like others, once my contract was up went PAYG and not sure how upgrading works in that sense....

Do I understand it right that the phone is free on the £36 too to existing customers?

HarrietJones · 09/10/2011 18:53

Ghoul- I'm onthe rolling contract & just sign up for a new one when ready.

starshaker · 09/10/2011 20:38

I know with voda you can get the iPhone 4 for £36 pm. I was that sad that i was 1 of the fist people to preorder the new 1 lol. As soon as the lines opened for preorders i was onto them. Should (bloody better) get mine on friday morning. Soooooo excited. Ive always had the black 1 so just for a change i went for the white and have upgraded to the 32gb. Ive just started my own business and lately ive been using all the mins i had available on the lower tarrif and have been paying over £62 anyway so hopefully this package will be the best 1 for me. Oh and since ive been with them for sooooooooooooooo long they have given me the iphone 3gs on a £10 contract so now dd can call her dad without doing it through me. She has been needing a new ipod touch for a wee while so this sorts that out at the same time. And yes i know its a bit over the top for a 6 year old but its not like it will leave the house so i dont need to worry about that side.

HarrietJones · 09/10/2011 20:48

O2 is the only one with an ok signal here. and I'm not even that rural
