I am bouncing with excitement as I can look forward to upgrading my 3GS

So? Has anyone got one?

What's your verdict?

My 3GS comes up for an early upgrade 1 month today and I want one :o

Bump :o

basildonbond · 18/10/2011 08:41

it would cost me £348 to upgrade early, so I think I'll be waiting until February ... I want one, but not that much!!

Dillydollydaydream · 18/10/2011 15:45

I got mine on Friday it's lovely. I had an iPhone 3GS so the difference on the camera was amazing. The screen on 4s is fab too. Siri and the voice texting is good fun, novelty will possibly wear off though!

Bit late to this but, my 3GS is dying on me - home button broken most of the time, Voice Control going nuts & ringing anyone and everyone at random times....
I'm out of contract now and paying £10.40 a month.

So:
a) buy another 3?
b) buy a 4 (or 4S) outright?
c) sign up to a new contract with a 4(S)?

Best deal I've seen so far is £36 per month with a free phone, 24months contract, plenty (for me) minutes, unlimited texts, and 1KB broadband.

Any thoughts? Xmas Smile

niceguy2 · 20/12/2011 23:53

Well it's always going to be cheaper to buy the phone outright.

So iphone 4S 16GB = £499
GiffGaff 2 year monthly goodybag = £240 (£10 per month for 250 mins, unlimited text & Data)

Total is £740 with no contract or commitment.

£36 * 24 = £864 and have to sign up for 2 years.

So it depends. Can you afford to pay for it up front? If you can then it's a no brainer really. Not only can you save £126, you can also change at any point rather than be tied into a 2 year contract (funds permitting!)

You'll see a considerable difference between the 3GS and 4S.

Thanks for replying Niceguy.
I'm not sure about affording it upfront, itself like a lot of money - I'd have to speak to my accountant DH Smile

Though I can see that it makes sense.

JKSLtd · 21/12/2011 13:14

Well sod the dithering, I have ordered it with the free phone + £36per month contract.
24 hour free delivery so should have it tomorrow Xmas Grin

Siri was a bit of a disappointment for me. I feel like a tit speaking slowly and distinctly into a machine. It's sort of cool that you can use it to write an email without touching the screen but it doesn't get it right often enough to be really useful.

The camera is loads better though, and I find using the 3G browser is much, much quicker.

GwendolineMaryLacedwithBrandy · 21/12/2011 13:24

I've just gone from a 4 to a 4S and there's nothing in it really. I'm glad I didn't pay for it. My dad however has just gone from a 3GS to my a 4 and he's blown away. And he's a luddite. :)
