But it's 5.5K which is ridiculous.

Where can I buy a decent shed? Went to my local garden centre and their cheapest one is crap and 1.2k

I really want this shed..

Have a look on Mano Mano. They have lots of different styles of shed and aren't too pricey.

I really want you to have that shed too. I have no other input on where yo find a cheaper one though, sorry. 😅

It's lovely isn't it! I think it's the colour and the door, possibly the window. It's like a grown up Wendy house 😬

Is it possible to paint the preservative coated wood on an ordinary brown shed - I would say it was -and possibly you can paint the black felt roof with fake tiles or just a nicer colour. I would go to somewhere that makes sheds -we have someone near who makes sheds, hen coops etc. Speak to a builder/ painter etc -get some advice.

I'm looking for this sort of alternative, I'm sure someone can build me a shed for a lot less than 5.5k!

We bought our shed ready painted in that kind of colour. It was from shed centre (theshedcentre.com/product/standard-apex/). We are in South London. It has a window but not the window in the door, and a normal felt roof. It looks nice though and the shed itself is sturdy. We paid them to build it for us too (not much but worth it)!

SoloSofa24 · 02/02/2025 11:02

Have you looked at Dunster or Tuin? A lot of the cost will depend on whether you can put it up by yourself.

longtompot · 02/02/2025 11:58

That's a lovely shed @WildFlowerBees

This isn't quite as pretty but could be made to look similar. Paint it, put in window bars to get the small pane look. Not sure how hard it would be to put in a window on the door. Maybe get a stable door and put that on instead? You can get lock fit roof panels, we have them on our cabin in a rough finished plastic and they look much better than the felt roof. Like this

We are looking at moving our shed, and wanted to have it going across the space, but that means moving the door and raising it as the sides are lower than the ends and doing a fair amount of work to do so. Seeing this one has made me want a new shed. Better win on the Premium bonds this month 🤞

I’d get a Homebase shed about £300/£400 paint it same colour you can get that tile effect shed felt roofing from wickes

granted it won’t be the same quality but paint it before you put it together and you’ll get a god few years out of it for a fraction of of the price

I am in a similar position! I love this one:

Forest Garden Forest Retreat Shed 6' x 4' w/ Installation - Painted Moss Green | Robert Dyas

it's still fairly expensive with discount, but so cute!

Pat888 · 02/02/2025 12:35

6’ x 4’ -you could hardly swing a mouse!

We want 8x6 plenty big enough for what we need it for.

Where do you live? Are there no local shed companies? We got ours from sheds4u Lancashire and it is great quality and much cheaper than 5.5k!! You can paint them whatever colour you like.

It is indeed a lovely shed. And it will last an awful lot longer than, say, a summer holiday.....

Don't! I can't find anything similar. I've asked a local company and they quoted £1500 but with Perspex windows and a felt roof, I don't want bloody Perspex or felt. But I don't think it'll be too hard to tweak it. We shall see. I have no idea why it's 5.5k, I feel they ought to give it to me as a customer tester.

£5.5k?!?! Just because it has windows that open?!?!?!?!

Takes my breath away

Chuchoter · 02/02/2025 19:14

Not quite the same

Ted27 · 02/02/2025 19:23

@WildFlowerBees
It's 5k because it's summer house, not a shed. Look at the roof, and quality of windows and doors, the overall finish.
Sheds have a roof felt, not tiles, wood doors, not lovely glazed ones.

I've got an 8 × 12 ft shed which cost me £1200 Inc two nice men to put it together for me.
As nice as it is, it's very much a shed, not a summer house.

Like everything you get what you pay for

fatandfriendly2024 · 02/02/2025 19:49

Have a look at large children's wooden play houses. You will be surprised on the price difference.
