White porcelain patio?

Has anyone put one down?

Just interested in how its faired. If you have any pics that would be great.

I'm mulling the idea of it because itll bring a fresh, light look to the garden and would love to hear the practicalities of having one before spending all the money

Ours is highly textured pale grey and is not slippery even when wet. The downside is when it gets muddy it is harder to clean as all the mud gets in the texture. It cleans well with a pressure washer though. We have the same tiles inside. Grout lines are thin and use epoxy grout which is very tough.

@PickAChew

Wouldn't it be a deathtrap in anything but warm, dry weather? So basically for 11 months of the year.
Not if you buy the correct ones which are textured not shiny.
ragsy · 25/08/2021 08:49

Really pleased with ours although I initially wanted something darker.

I really wish I'd gone with porcelain rather than sandstone. All the pictures are amazing.

@pokhara wow I love it. I wont be able to have a seamless transition from indoor tooutdoor but I have light grey carpet in my living room so looking to mirror the light colour outside.

Good tip on the grout.

I have to power wash my concrete pavers every yr as they literally turn black from the dirt etc so i think regardless of what you put down it'll always need one wash a year.

@ragsy I love it, the contrast between your dark grey seating and tiles is lovely. Ill be painting my fencing a dark grey and adding dark grey border to complement the white porcelain tile I like.

Definitely will check that its textured.

We have had one put down and is not slippery at all, i assume its anti slip. We do have 2 dogs who do a great job of keeping it dirty so we do have to jet wash it regularly. Love it though

@jonjojobs123

Thanks for sharing, I love it. I do like that section you put a pattern tile down. I think i might do something like that too.

Well its all helped to confirm I should go ahead with a light colour.

I do love that 'I'm away at a villa' ambience the lighter colours gives.

userxx · 26/08/2021 15:46

@Jonjojobs123 Wow, looks amazing. Do you live in the UK ?

@userxx yes live in southern england. Hoping for some better weather to enjoy the patio as had it laid at the beginning

Eorks · 26/08/2021 16:11

Wow, loving these photos... Keep them coming, folks Grin

@Jonjojobs123 your garden looks gorgeous and absolutely massive.

Love your plant lay out in your planters in the photo. Did you design this layout out yourselves, have a gardener in or use one of the ready made border companies and have you used bark to minimise weeds? Just asking as I would really love something similar.

Jonjojobs123 · 26/08/2021 16:54

@HazyDaisy123456 thank you

I have a friend who does border design and she helped me out massively and designed the planting and then I just added to it. I had another border that was existing but had been dug upby the landscapers, i was left with a pile pf plants that i planted when they finished but all the perenials came up and its very very busy so eill have to do some moving around come Autumn.

Your borders look fabulous your friend has done a fab job.

sub453 · 26/08/2021 17:23

Not porcelain, but we have a similar style flat sandstone patio round our pool. Poor choice as it's so slippery as soon as any water gets on it (even after regular jet washing). The riven slabs may look rather less beautiful but at least you don't have to inch your way along them when it's wet.

sub453 · 26/08/2021 17:24

Ours has also stained when the birds eat the berries and produce purple poo (sorry for that grim detail)

bunnytheegghunter · 26/08/2021 17:30

I don't have them but my neighbours do they have actually repeatedly popped the tiles! He has replaced 6 so far in a year usually due to high winds blowing their egg chair over or the kids/him dropping things on them! They are considering getting rid!

It looks Mediterranean, it's a beautiful garden. I could sit out there all summer and be very content.

Yes, lovely. The terrace isn’t white, though, lovely shade of (is it?) sandstone? Really nice choice, soft. White would have been too stark.

Jonjojobs123 · 26/08/2021 21:53

Its porcelain, colour is actually called Amber so has tiny flecks in it.

Chatterbox658 · 20/09/2024 21:54

Hi @Pokhora could you tell me the name of your tiles? Thank you
