Sounds like a passion flower.

alittleworried · 07/06/2007 12:35

was it there last year?

Pruuni · 07/06/2007 12:35

are the leaves a bit hairy? Or smooth with separate lobes?

bozza · 07/06/2007 14:44

I don't think it is a passion flower. I wonder if it is a virginia creeper. But all the photos show it in autumn with the red leaves.

talcy0 · 07/06/2007 14:45

Yep, thanks bozza...i had a virginia creeper at old garden...that was red....and had little suckers iykwim?

OP posts:
bozza · 07/06/2007 14:46

OK I have found this picture which I think is the same.

In that case you will get no flowers but really bright red leaves in autumn.

bozza · 07/06/2007 14:47

But they start off green and progress to red as the summer goes on. I have one and it is still quite green. Or perhaps boston ivy is supposed to be similar but different.

talcy0 · 07/06/2007 14:48

won't let me look!!

Off to collect dds now,
will check back

If it is V creeper...does it die back in winter?????

my virginia creeper has lots of little pale bud type things on it atm any on yours? can't tell from photo and your leaves seem larger

bozza · 07/06/2007 15:10

will look for another picture that was from slightly dodgy website. All the leaves go definitely. And I suppose something might have happened to the stems.
