This is a thread for supporting all young people post GCSEs 2020, regardless of their educational setting. It is respectfully requested that all are supportive and helpful to each other. If you want to start a debate, e.g state vs private, please don't within this thread. Please also be sensitive when responding to threads about grades.

Some of us have been here since first thread back in yr10, some will be new. Everyone has been friendly and helpful in the past. Everyone is welcome. It is hoped this will continue.

Our DS/DD may go down various paths (such as employment, apprenticeships, higher ed) We have decided for anyone interested they will most likely find us within the Further Ed board.

Thanks for the new thread and new list. The university thread I'm on had several of us with dc's going to UEA. So we set up our own thread. That's been helpful. But that won't happen this time as not many on that list wanting Sussex.

Thanks for the new thread Orange but bloody hell is it scary seeing DS's firm and insurance in bold!! Suddenly feels real

Thanks for the thread and the list. I liked the WarwickOffer Holders Day. We got snacks, and the Liberal Arts staff seem so interested in their students, and passionate about the course. I know the History intake is huge, and guess that can make things more impersonal. we didnt get told about the accommodation talks, so haven’t a clue about any of that! But the price of Halls seems unfairly high to me. Warwick does have a £2000 pound bursary for students on low incomes, that we are hoping ours qualifies for, and doesnt seem too restricted so that may help others too.

DD bought tickets to Birmingham Freshers fair. Hopefully she will get the grades now.

@BlueMarigold sorry for this useless advice for you but may be worthwhile for others. I have read in lots of different forums that it's best not to buy Freshers tickets until you actually get there. Lots of places sell tickets but the student don't always go to those events and it's better to wait to see what other people are going to and buy tickets once there.
