Sandy I know what you mean - I'm definitely a bit more 'whatever' about it this time!

242Mummy · 17/02/2019 17:39

Loose and Sandy DS2 also chose DT as his GCSE option - top of his list! He really enjoys the practical side of it but I have no idea what it will be like in reality in terms of time and effort needed. Glad we're able to muddle through it together! Wonder if there is a GCSE 2021 thread in the offing.

LooseAtTheSeams · 17/02/2019 18:02

Glad to hear there are other DT fans! I do think it's a good subject for DS2. He wasn't at all interested in talking about or picking options (apart from music, which he will definitely do) and then suddenly had chosen his list.

242Mummy · 17/02/2019 19:47

Loose Snap! DS2 also doing Music GCSE.

WhatHaveIFound · 18/02/2019 08:38

I'm another one with who'll have a DC doing GCSEs in 2021. Options are pretty much decided on though he may make a last minute change from RS to PE to avoid too many essays.

DT out for most pupils at my DS's school due to very shouty teacher!

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 18/02/2019 11:07

Glad to say no more GCSEs evah! It’s weird that DS1 is leaving university this summer, after 17 years of education. I’m looking forward to visiting him this week. DS3 is going to stay overnight and come home next day on the coach to get a last chance taste of uni life with DS1.

AS mocks are over and done with, it’s nice to have a proper break. Results on 8th March. Hopefully he’ll either be on track or alternatively it’ll give him a kick up the arse. Hopefully...

TheFirstOHN · 18/02/2019 11:34

I'll have two doing GCSEs in 2020... yes, the same time that DS2 will be taking his A-levels.

Somethingsmellsnice · 18/02/2019 12:41

TheFirstOHN at least they will all be revising rather than just one while the others are "playing"!

Oratory1 · 18/02/2019 16:52

My last as well Ellen. It will be a real mixture of glad that's over (for some things) and a bit sad at last play, concert, carol service etc etc.

Really well done on the job front for DS1 too. DD1 just starting to apply and both for her and DS (looking at apprenticeship) its a real unknown. At least with Uni applications you sort of knew they were going to end up somewhere it was just a case of where, but with this job lark its a complete unknown !!

Somethingsmellsnice · 18/02/2019 17:37

My eldest graduated in 2015, middle DSS graduates this year and youngest is the yr 12er. So we are doing the last everything too . I will be an empty nester come 2020!

LooseAtTheSeams · 18/02/2019 18:06

Hope mocks went well Ellen. I think English and philosophy were very promising for DS and everyone needed to pull up their socks in Psychology!

Kilash · 18/02/2019 19:26

TheFirst Shock next summer will be fun for you....

Sostenueto · 18/02/2019 20:04

Hi all am here but just lurking. Flowers

LooseAtTheSeams · 18/02/2019 20:51

Sostenueto hope all is well?

whistl · 18/02/2019 20:55

I've just been putting Exams in the family calendar - we've got one DS or the other doing exams every 20 days from now until the end of June.

Wonders what bad things Whistl did in a previous life Wink

Sostenueto · 18/02/2019 22:42

All OK loose hope all well with you too! Just lacking energy, the winter blues I think. Carry on all I love this thread!Flowers

242Mummy · 19/02/2019 07:36

Something How's your dad doing?

LooseAtTheSeams · 19/02/2019 07:59

Whistl GCSEs go on forever! I think we'll be done this year by May half term but I suspect I could be wrong.
Sostenueto Spring keeps trying to happen here - hopefully you'll be sending us more photos of the garden before too long!
DS had an extra English session yesterday morning but hopefully will spend the rest of half term reviewing his notes as promised.

Stickerrocks · 19/02/2019 08:55

Spring has sprung.

Stickerrocks · 19/02/2019 08:58

Loading the car with chunky jumpers & boots for us, coursework & homework for DD. Destination cliff top hotel back home for a few days.

LimitIsUp · 19/02/2019 10:10

Hopefully they are good treatment options for your father Something.

You're not going to let just one parent's opinion on your dd's English A level deter you are you Sticker?

All sounds really positive for his future Juggling. When did you realise he was musically talented and do you or his father have any musical talent?

Quietish week here. Dh and I did have a mini trip to London to the Chinese Embassy for my visa (and used it as an opportunity to stay overnight and dine at Chutney Mary) but not much else going on. Ds (year 10) is currently in the dining room being tested for spLD by an Ed Pysch and dd is still in bed - naturally.

KingscoteStaff · 19/02/2019 15:44

Beautiful weather in Austria! DS and DD looking in awe at the year 13 and year 11 children who are going off to revise at lunchtime WITHOUT BEING TOLD...

Stickerrocks · 19/02/2019 16:26

Limit definitely not. It may not be facilitating, but it's going to be a darn sight more useful than an A level in physics for a degree in politics, especially as she wants to be the next Cathy Newman, Katya Adler or Laura Kuhnsberg (apologies if any of them are misspelt).

whistl · 20/02/2019 06:18

@Somethingsmellsnice I thought I was keeping up with the thread, but I've just read back and I realised I missed everything that's been happening with you. That call and journey must have been horrendous.
How are things now?
