My DC love the 80's too they don't have much choice-they were raised on it from birth Grin

Stickerrocks · 11/02/2019 17:15

Well I can honestly say that Alison Moyet & Tears for Fears were brilliant last week and I felt relatively young (ie slightly under 50 rather than over 50).

I've been me forever.

Stickerrocks · 11/02/2019 17:18

Is anyone's DC going to join in the climate-change protest strike action on Friday? DD was keen, but we have a long drive (oh, the irony) to Cambridge for Saturday's masterclass instead.

Oratory1 · 11/02/2019 17:40

Hi NET from me too. All three DC and one BF declared Hamilton the best show they'd seen last summer too. I didn't go as only had 4 tickets and thought DS would get more out of it than me. Debating whether to get some now.

Comefromaway is definitely on the list for next family trip though and dear Evan Hansen in the autumn - any other recommendations ?

LimitIsUp · 11/02/2019 18:33

Did you see them at the Bournemouth BIC Sticker? I was there!

Stickerrocks · 11/02/2019 18:48

Up in the balcony. Please tell me you didn't get elbowed by a short Cornish person jiggling up & down, bellorpwing along tirelessly. Aha next.

LimitIsUp · 11/02/2019 18:49

Yes sorry Kick, I knew it wasn't a practical option for you - just linked to it because it seems to show that geography and related disciplines are a burgeoning employment sector

Stickerrocks · 11/02/2019 18:49

Bellowing, I meant to type bellowing.

LimitIsUp · 11/02/2019 18:50

I didn't get elbowed by a short Cornish person Grin - was also on the balcony a couple of rows from the back

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 11/02/2019 19:23

No problem limit. It was useful. Thanks.

We're going to see Hamilton at Easter. I'm so excited!

Comefromaway · 11/02/2019 19:26

I joined Delfont Mackintosh plus to hopefully get Dear Evan Hansen priority. It’s going to be my parents Xmas present to us.

I’d also reccomend Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.

KingscoteStaff · 11/02/2019 20:02

We are well and truly in the Venn diagram intersection between Not- Overinvested-Yet-Commited- Parents and Musical Lovers.

We missed tickets for Fiddler on the Roof at the Menier, but have managed to pick some up for the short West End run.

Stickerrocks · 11/02/2019 20:29

Row B was the place to be!

I have tickets for Matilda (again) in the summer, as it's touring.

PeggyIsInTheNarrative · 11/02/2019 21:02

We saw Fiddler on the Roof a few years back with Paul Michael Glaser playing Teyve. It was a great production as in the cast were musician actors so played their instruments on stage as part of the action. Great.

Welcome to Notenoughtime

242Mummy · 12/02/2019 07:52

Ahh I've been on the Hamilton lottery for ages but no luck! Given up and will probably buy tickets for Christmas when the tranche is released. DH and I went to Don Quixote last week which was a hoot - funny but also bittersweet. Growing old os just no fun.

Welcome all newbies (haha - I can say that now!) Half term here next week which will be a much needed break! Thanks for the advice on Art for DS2. Final GCSE choices are D&T, Computing, Music, Business Studies in addition to the compulsory English lang and lit, 2xScience, Maths and RS.

JufusMum · 12/02/2019 10:04

hello all - haven't been on here for ages - just going to have a read through and a catch up x

NotEnoughTime · 12/02/2019 10:31

Thank you all so much for the welcomes-what a lovely bunch you are :)
Oratory1 I am on the priority booking list for Dear Evan Hansen too which looks amazing. If you have never seen The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time then I would highly recommend it. It is currently on at the Piccadilly theatre. It is fantastic-moving but funny too.
As someone else mentioned upthread Everybody's Talking about Jamie is also fab. It is currently on tour.
Sorry everyone, I seem to to have turned this into a musical theatre thread Blush
Back to the topic. I'm sure you already know about these but if not they might be worth a look-University Taster Courses. They are half day and one day courses for year 12's, they are all free and an 'insight into what University life is like'. I think they are all based in London (sorry to all those who live too far away).

NET x

Comefromaway · 12/02/2019 11:06

NotEnoughTime - don't worry I have a tendancy to do that too (my dd is actually training to be a musical theatre dancer (alongside 2 A levels) so hers is a 3 year course in total. So we won't be doing the uni visits etc we had the audition trail last year but I still like to hear about everyone else.

It is a fantastic, supportive thread. Last year right in the middle of dd's GCSE's my dh was taken seriously ill and the folks on here were a lifesaver. I could come on and vent (dh didn't want things talked about in real life).

NotEnoughTime · 12/02/2019 14:41

Wow, fair play to your DD Comefromaway

What a stressful time it must have been for you last year. I hope your DH is better now Flowers

Somethingsmellsnice · 13/02/2019 06:36

Just here for a bit of a hand hold. Doing a mad transAtlantic dash as my father is critically ill in hospital. Just hoping I get there in time. It is 14 hours with connecting flights. Confused

sandybayley · 13/02/2019 06:47

@Somethingsmellsnice - oh no ☹️. Wishing you a safe and speedy journey and your DF a good recovery. I dread getting 'the call' as my DF isn't it great health but a 3 hour road trip is quite a different prospect to a 14 hour trip with a flight.

TheFirstOHN · 13/02/2019 07:07

Somethingsmellsnice will be thinking of you (and your dad).

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 13/02/2019 07:11

Something Flowers how frightening. Hope you have a safe flight.

idsisatwat · 13/02/2019 07:14

Somethingsmellsnice thinking of you and your dad

bpisok · 13/02/2019 07:34

Also thinking of you. Xx
