Hopefully this thread will appear on TIO! Grin No need to use it til our old thread is done, but at least we have it for when we are ready.

Enjoy Ursula! I hope you manage to get your seats.

Anyone sitting next to DS on a plane would have fun. He said he "really doesn't like people". I'm not quite sure if he means all people or just random people. He does have a nice group of friends though - I don't think he's including them in his sweeping statement. Teenagers are an odd breed.

He had his PS reviewed today and has been told it's "good - for a first draft". He has to work on it during half term and target for UCAS submission is mid November. He also got called in to see the head this afternoon to be thanked for helping out and mentoring younger pupils - he was a bit affronted as he was expecting at least a bar of chocolate for his trouble..!

SA at this time of year will be beautiful! I’m very jealous.

dh and I were going to be going away for a couple of days, but between dd and various things going on with me I’ve not had the head space to organise it which I’m hacked off with as it won’t happen now.

HesMyLobster · 12/10/2017 20:54

There’s still time Kitten - I bet you could find a good deal on last minute . com or similar.

DD has just announced that she’s going down to London in half term to stay with some of her friends from Summer School for a few daysConfused

Not sure how I feel about letting her loose in the city alone!

PandaG · 12/10/2017 21:20

You'd fallen off tio! Had last ever parents' evening tonight, ds is doing well and his teachers said some really positive things, and were wishing him well with university applications. I came home and had a good cry. I'm so excited for his future, but how the heck did my cheeky little boy become (almost) a man?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/10/2017 21:45

awww Panda. But you did it! It seems like a very daunting task when they first get out in your arms!

I should have a look Lobster. Wish dh would sort it and go ta dah this is what we are doing....

I don't want to brag, but we are doing 6 nights in the Kruger, from north to south. I am positively giddy with excitement.

DD's PS is being written on the plane. Apparently.

LoniceraJaponica · 12/10/2017 23:20

DD's application went off today. I hope she gets at least one interview. Medicine is so tough to get into. I have visions of her getting no offers at all and having to wait for clearing for her plan B.

ShanghaiDiva · 12/10/2017 23:49

Ds has received an offer from Warwick for accounting and finance - 38 points in the IB with a 5 in higher level maths. Warwick and Leeds are his preferred destinations so good news for him this morning.

HesMyLobster · 13/10/2017 00:20

Congratulations Shanghai’s DS, brilliant news! Smile

Littledrummergirl · 13/10/2017 07:02

Well done Shanghais Ds.Grin
Lonicera that's where we are as well. One offer will be good, one of his preferred would be amazing.
Fingers crossed for interviews.

MsAwesomeDragon · 13/10/2017 07:03

Fab news Shanghai!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/10/2017 08:35

Shanghai that’s great! That sounds very doable for your ds.

Good luck Lonicera dd!

Well done Shanghai's DS!

starfleet · 13/10/2017 10:48

That's great news Shanghai.

Good Luck to your DD Lonicera.

DS has finished for half term - he has a huge stack of past papers to work though so that'll keep him busy!

Icouldbeknitting · 13/10/2017 11:08

Shanghai what a lovely way to start the weekend.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 13/10/2017 12:46

Shanghai that's great news.
ursula have a great holiday.
Good luck to those with PS to finish/ revise.
Dd has given hers to her tutor but he is still chasing up last minute Oxbridge stuff so hasn't looked at it yet. He has a reputation for being hyper-critical so though she is happy enough with what she has done, she is very nervous.
She got a reply to her email to Edinburgh admissions and is frankly none the wiser.

catslife · 13/10/2017 13:50

This week I have signed my last permission form as dd will now be able to sign for herself as she is now (officially) an adult! The birthday celebrations are this weekend.
There is approx 1 week of college left before half term and we have 10 days holiday. I think there are essays etc that need to be completed and handed in either before the holidays or after college starts back.
Congratulations shanghai on your ds offer and I hope the fee status is sorted out soon.
Also hoping those who have submitted forms hear something soon and that those awaiting modifications are completed soon.

LoniceraJaponica · 13/10/2017 14:01

It looks like we have a much later half term than everyone else. DD doesn't break up until the 27th.

PandaG · 13/10/2017 14:57

We don't break up until 27 either. Unfortunately this means he can't go away at half term as he has an exam on the 2nd.

Icouldbeknitting · 13/10/2017 15:52

We also don't break up until the 27th as I found out this morning. That came as a bit of a shock because since July DS has been booked on a half term three night residential course, Last year I checked repeatedly that the LA that he goes to school in had the same holidays as the LA that we live in and last year all the holidays lined up. This year what with the early deadline HE application and my mother being in hospital (and the calendar not being on the college website - there is fault on both sides) I've never thought to check it. It goes without saying that this year the holidays don't line up and his half term residential falls in term time. Of course it does.

Things are so bad here that I'm outsourcing all remembering to Alexa. I don't care if she has plans for world domination providing she can remember what's on the shopping list.

user1464118261 · 13/10/2017 17:58

Can I join? Dd applying for geography -PS done and in!

Waiting now although geography offers not made before
January apparently for where she has applied

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/10/2017 18:11

Welcome User :) the more the merrier!

Grin knitting! oh dear!

I wish that it were a week later. Next half term is going to seem crazy long and exhausting.

chocolateworshipper · 13/10/2017 19:53

Welcome user and good luck

One more week before half term break here. Just as well - DD is exhausted.

raspberryrippleicecream · 14/10/2017 08:14

DD has tonsillitis again! We got antibiotics quicker this time and she seems on the mend.

No sign of PS yet, though she says she thinks she knows what she's doing now.

She is also off to London in half term.

doistayordoigo · 14/10/2017 09:44

DS's application went in yesterday, for school to add their bits...can you tell on UCAS when they've submitted it or not?
