Don't like the sound of that social worker!! Hope you get your paperwork soon. And hey children are meant to get dirty. They can't explore the world around the proerly and stay crisp and fresh!! Confused xx

SquidgyBrain · 27/11/2010 23:47

I am sure that I have blown it all out of proportion but it felt really rubbish at the time.

She does seem to value some of my opinions, and she is coming round on Wednesday to observe the little one and discuss some of his concerning behaviours. I am really heartbroken for the LO as it seems like he isn't attached to his parents at all. He also seem never to seek out adult interaction. Although it is lovely to see that some of this is changing :) He is also beginning to show signs of attachment to me - he shows no emotion at all when his mum or dad arrives, and again when they leave. Now when I walk in the room if he hasn't seen me for a little while he gets excited and starts crawling towards me.

Mum does seem to be great at some areas but she really could do with some parenting advice on others.

HI Squidgy,

How are you coping with the snow. Do you have it as bad as we do? We can't get out!

That will upset the contact arrangeents somewhat I think.

Hope you're all ok and your hubby is safely tucked up at home with you.

Hugs

Sharon xx

SquidgyBrain · 01/12/2010 20:16

we are coping with the snow in as much as we aren't venturing out unless you call playing in the snow venturing out ;)

We have loads of snow - they have been clearing the roads and pavements in the last couple of days with a JCB and then trucking lorry loads of snow out of the town - have no idea where they are sticking it - but there will be a huge snow mountain somewhere - on the flat we must have one and a half to two feet of the stuff.

LO hasn't been to contact all week, the social workers are trying to work something out so that he can see his parents on Friday for a little while (she did ask if that could be here and we said no - if I hadn't had this place I wouldn't have had the backbone to say no - and after I did she actually said that she would have said the same but felt that she had to ask)

DH hasn't managed to get to work either as the A90 has been dreadful so have been enjoying having my favourite people round me :)

How about you Sharon, any further on and how is DS all better now?

hugs back xx

We are just waiting on the guy who will be our SW for the process to call. Although with the weather as is that could be some time!. Really keen to get started though.

I think your JCBs are dumping their snow in Fife - we are snowed in and it's getting worse. According to the weather man it's already 1m here! We have has lots of fun though but our snowman ( which was a huge one) is now buried up to his middle and our igloo is completely gone. Luuk makes us go out and rscue the little animals we put in it, so every morning we have to g and dig them out.Smile

Remy can't go to work either so he's been home too. He and Luuk made a bird table today for the por wee birdies who have nothing to eat and it's lovely.

Luuk is doing great. So much so ( and try not to be horrified, cos I know you have a medical background and this seems to be a big no-no here), that I've started giving him real food in his tube! It is going so well I actualy can't believe it. Going slowly for now and due to see a nutritionist next week ( if we can get out) to help ensure we get in all the nutrients and micronutrients he needs when we stop his formula all together.

Already he is tolerating more volume/calories and is only showing his usual signs of discomfort with his formula feeds! He is having normal poos and I've stopped his senna!! It's amazing. I am keeping a food diary, details of what he tolerates and doesn't, recipes including calories etc, improvements ( ie normal poo) and weight/height.)

Not due to see the dietician for a couple of months so hoping to go armed with evidence that it's working for him. Obviously if it's not working I will stop and go back to formula, but I actually feel like a mummy, not a nurse. It's great and Luuk is so excited about it too. This is the most interest he's ever had in food and he can even choose what he'd like to have.

So that's our excitements for the moment...

Hugs and stay warm vibes xx

SenSationsMad · 02/12/2010 09:53

Hi girls, please send me some snow. We have a light dusting and no more Xmas Sad Seing as I've been off most of this week with somebody off school - I might as well have some snow outside to enjoy!

shaz298 · 02/12/2010 18:05

You can have all of ours if you like, I've had enough now!! x

SquidgyBrain · 03/12/2010 19:39

yeah the weather is holding up lots of things - our LO hasn't been at contact all week, and his SW hasn't made it into the office either!

Hopefully it won't be long till your SW is in touch and it all kicks off soon.

Bless Luuk and the little animals in the igloo :) Sounds like you are enjoying spending time with your 2 men :)

Glad that Luuk is doing well, hey I am not horrified at all - I have no idea how I would deal with things in your shoes, and if it is working for Luuk and you then I am all behind you :) Hoping the nutritionist is supportive and has some good advice

I am so pleased that you sound so happy and that Luuk is doing so well :)

Thanks Squidgy!!

Luuk now having no formula tube feed during the day at all:) and twice now he's complained of being HUNGRY!! He's never ever even indicated that he knew what hinger was before!! Amazing!

Hope the roads are better next week and SW gets to work and LO can have contact again.

xx

SquidgyBrain · 04/12/2010 18:27

fantastic sounds like mummy knew best :)

Managed to get to Dundee to buy LO's 1st birthday pressies, the roads are certainly clear enough to get to contact just now lets hope it stays that way!!

really thrilled for you with the progress Luuk is making, I bet you feel like Christmas has come early to your house :)

shaz298 · 04/12/2010 19:48

Did you get something nice for LO?

Hope contact can go ahead as planned.

I really do feel Christas has come early. In fact I went to supermarket today and left Remy in charge. He forgot to feed luuk and so he got his luncg at 3pm.............he still managed his dinner fine at 5pm!!! Previously if I tried to give a bolus just half an hour early Luuk would vomit!!

I just hope the healthcare team can see it as positive too! x

SquidgyBrain · 08/12/2010 16:35

Got lots of brightly coloured plastic things I am sure that he will be delighted with it :)

Contact was cancelled on Monday - I wasn't happy on LO's mum's behalf - she told me last week that they were going to get in touch and let her know if contact was going ahead on Monday, so she waited to hear and didn't call till after they had to be in the office so was told they were late and that was that :(

He did see his parents today, and his Mum has now been clean for 10 days, and seems to be keeping her appointments so it is looking better, but the social worker still seems to think it unlikely that he will go home after the review meeting. Of course no one has told mum this so he is hanging everything on having him home for Christmas - made worse as she found out today that they will not be able to see him on his 1st birthday as it is a Saturday

Fantastic new about Luuk tolerating feeding so well, U guess it is one of those situations that I would suggest you go to his next appointment armed with facts and details so that you can argue the case with them, they will always be more willing to listen if you can back up your decisions. But I am sure you are already well aware of that and probably already prepared - you really are amazing :)

Good that LO had contact with Mum, pity SW aren't being honest with her though.

Is there no way they can make arrangements for even a short contact on LO's birthday? They only have one 1st Birthday!!

You seem to know me so well......I have everything written down to the very calorie!! Details of all the combinations I've given him, list of improvements, weekly weights and will do monthly heights.

Last night we even managed not to need to give him an overnight pup feed as he had everything during the day!! First time in his life he's not been fed overnight. he asked this morning if we can do this every day!!! So in addition to all of my evidence I just have to get them to ask Luuk what he thinks................job done.

xx

SquidgyBrain · 09/12/2010 16:57

Spoke to the SW today, and it seems that she has now told them that she doesn't feel that LO will be returned at the meeting on the 22nd.

However she and I are going to have a meeting on Monday and discuss how things are going, so I will get a clearer idea of what is and what isn't going on

They do not do contact at the weekend, and as she did rightly put it LO won't know that his birthday isn't on the Friday when they make a fuss of him, and it has been the result of their actions and life style choices that has led to him being removed and them seeing him on his birthday is about them not him

That is great news about the feeding it does sound it is suiting Luuk better, and his feeling have to come into it. I do wonder if formula feeding is just really the easy way out - as making sure that Luuk gets everything he needs via normal food is much harder the way you are doing it - but much more normal too.

From what you have said it sounds like they don't have a leg to stand on with the evidence so heavy in your favour :)

Thanks Squidgy,

At least LO is having contact on Friday where he can be ade a fuss of. I understand the SW point of view and he may not undrrstand now but as he gets older and asks what did I do on my 1st birthday then that's where I feel for him.......

In saying that Luuk's 1st birthday was spent in hospital having tests. A 1 overnight plan which turned into 11!!

XXX

SquidgyBrain · 10/12/2010 23:19

yeah I am sure that they will have a lovely time on the Friday.

To be honest, with the way things are with his parents I am guessing that this won't be his last time in foster care - I hope that I am wrong, but unless things dramatically change I can't see any other future for them all :(

Awh what a shame that Luuk was in hospital for his

Have you heard any more about the SW coming to meet you?

OP posts:
shaz298 · 10/12/2010 23:41

Yeah, he phoned. Other SW had said to hold on to the application form and give it to hi when he came, but he has said just to post it as that will be quicker than him getting out due to weather and backlog.

Once it's received our time starts counting from then.

So will post form over the weekend and hopefully the weather won't get too bad again in the coing weeks.
