Redundancies announcement - anyone else waiting?

Scootergrrrl · 01/04/2011 10:53

The first announcement is due any time now. I cant decide whether I would be a bit excited if DH was eligible or absolutely terrified! Anyone else waiting to hear?

OP posts:
Saltire · 01/04/2011 10:54

DH heard that his trade were looking for 25 sgt redundancies on 1st March.

MrsSnaplegs · 01/04/2011 13:33

Unofficially been told there is nothing in my branch

Scootergrrrl · 01/04/2011 13:59

Unofficially too, DH is in the clear but plenty in his trade aren't.

OP posts:
scaryteacher · 01/04/2011 19:11

dh too close to retirement to get made redundant.

hf128219 · 01/04/2011 22:34

DH on it - along with the rest of the Cavalry/Infantry etc.

MrsSnaplegs · 01/04/2011 22:57

Sorry about that HF - will he volunteer?

mpsw · 01/04/2011 23:57

DH believes he's in the clear.

But future promotions looking ever tighter as various posts/function's seniority being re-examined.

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/defence/8422839/Forces-serving-in-Libya-to-be-told-you-face-the-sack.html

What future promotions mpsw? The RN has been very short on those for a good while now, especially to Capt.

hf128219 · 02/04/2011 07:14

The 'funniest' thing is that evey assurance was given that people would not be informed by email....

How did dh find out?? Email......

I think there are about 5000 on this list, and it says 95% of people have no reason for concern.

scaryteacher · 04/04/2011 12:15

RN tranches now out - dh OK, db in the frame, but they don't want many in his specialisation.

hf128219 · 04/04/2011 12:23

If any Army people want any settlement figures go on to www.mod-rc.co.uk

scary Good news re your dh. Sure your db will be fine too. My dh is a bit the same - they only want 15 of 'him'.

scaryteacher · 04/04/2011 12:28

They only want 7 of my db ...... as he has two kids in boarding school, it will have to be compulsory for him - he won't volunteer.

See the RAF are begging for more money today - can the RN have some too for the TLAMS we are expending?

hf128219 · 04/04/2011 12:30

Now what is the difference between compulsory and voluntary - apart from one you walk, the other you are pushed.

Just read that re RAF!

scaryteacher · 04/04/2011 12:59

I think they are looking for volunteers first and then they'll start picking people.

Don't know the RAF are manking about - the RN is facing swingeing cuts yet again, and still expected to do everything it did before (including the equivalent of two ships companies permanently in Afghanistan plus the RMs who have just gone out again).

doonhamer · 04/04/2011 13:25

I wonder what the percentage fo those beign offered redundacies are in Libya? or lining the Royal Wedding routeHmm

MrsSnaplegs · 04/04/2011 14:50

We had official brief this morning

1st day back from maternity leave - welcome back please come to the complulsory presentation on the redundancies Grin

I can pm further info to regulars on here but I have no specific details and don't really want to post on open forum.

No-one will be getting letters until Sept for individual redundancies - this is broad brush numbers, dates and figures.

Happylander · 04/04/2011 15:10

MrsSnaplegs as I have been utter rubbish with keeping up with anything lately and think you are in nursing trade I just wondered what they said about QARANC's. I'm only in TA though as my joining the Regs got scuppered when I got pregnant! Forgive me if I have got your trade wrong.
My DH is okay thank god.

MrsSnaplegs · 04/04/2011 16:20

happylander

Used to be a nurse - have now gone over to the dark side Grin

No med listed at all for green persuasion - some for dark blue

We have been told that for med we need to wait for the next 2 tranches as there is a separate review going on

jcscot · 04/04/2011 20:04

Apparently the husband's cap badge is in the clear.

MotherOfGirls · 05/04/2011 06:28

Can anyone clarify the position on CEA and redundancies, please? DH is 'in the bracket' so may hear on 1st Sep. This will be a week before DD1 starts 6th Form and DD2 starts senior school. What I need to know is could CEA be pulled that day, or would it be the date of redundancy? Also, for DD2, is the 'stage of education' which I hear is guaranteed Yr 9 - 11 or just Yr 10 & 11?

MrsSnaplegs · 05/04/2011 06:41

Not sure will have to read the din but it is on nff and aff websites I think - can't link from phone

MotherOfGirls · 05/04/2011 06:42

Thanks, Mrs S. Will take a look.

scaryteacher · 05/04/2011 07:14

afaik, it is only 'safe' if they are in 10-11 and 12-13 (exam years). I'll read the DIN and let you know.

hf128219 · 05/04/2011 07:32

It says within 2 years of GCSE or A Level CEA will be paid until exams

davidtennantsmistress · 05/04/2011 08:13

thank god DP's is safe this time around, I think he was a little disappointed in some ways, however with a new baby on the way i'm glad he's stopping in with a job. his regt needs to loose a lot thou (100 odd) and I believe they're over manned on his rank, but not his trade atm. as they'll need to loose equipment if they loose the bods fingers crossed.

XH on the other hand i've no idea on - I think he might be in the frame but not heard.

both of the lads had CO's briefings yesterday with the details in.
