Have a sniff.
I would use it if it didn't smell too bad.
I do it all the time and we are all still here!
Friday we had frozen salmon that was best before last July

savoycabbage · 14/02/2010 07:59

I would! Sniff it...... Is it beef? I would definitely eat it if it was beef.

Sparkletastic · 14/02/2010 07:59

no you'll be fine if it passes the sniff test - is it discoloured?

ben5 · 14/02/2010 08:02

does it smell and look ok? if so i would make your spag bol!!!!!!!!!!

BigTillyMint · 14/02/2010 08:07

I would. Just make sure you cook it properly!

But I don't keep my ketchup in the fridge http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/912331-to-laugh-at-MIL-because here

bigtillymint, my DD keeps taking the ketchup out of the fridge because she says it is too cold.
We never kept it in the fridge when we were kids. It lived in the middle of the table, with the salt and pepper . My dad hated that I put ketchup on everything, even a roast dinner.

SixtyFootDoll · 14/02/2010 08:14

If it smells ok I would
i it was ok at 2359hrs yesterday what can change in 8hrs?

Montifer · 14/02/2010 08:15

If the date was only yesterday and it smells ok I'd definitely cook it.
As long as you're not having steak tartare and it's getting a good simmer am sure it will be fine

ArcticFox · 14/02/2010 08:29

dont worry about the colour too much- that's just the blood settling to the bottom. Key thing is the smell and that it doesnt have a green or "metallic" tinge to it

Enjoy your spag bol.

SchrodingersSexKitten · 14/02/2010 12:17

Sniffed it, smells absolutely fine, spag bol here we come!
