I have three favourites - Lentil, Cauliflower and Leek and Potato. All really simple - no faffing about.

pickie · 15/10/2008 21:40

garlic and jerusalem artichokes (but the farting is unbelievable but worth it). Curried parsnip soup and carrot and ginger soup

notnowbernard · 15/10/2008 21:41

Pumpkin and bacon

I made a lovely roasted butternut squash (with an apple and the slightest hint of chilli) soup yesterday. Also another vote for curried parsnip and my next one to try is leek and potato with bacon. (My dsis was making it tonight and I thought it sounded lovely!)

pinkandbluespottywellies · 15/10/2008 21:50

Oh yes and broccoli and cheese. Lentil made with bacon stock was always my fave that my mum used to make.

Am too bloody busy teaching all day to be poncing around with soup

kiltycoldbum · 15/10/2008 21:54

BreevandercampLGJ · 15/10/2008 21:57

I had Covent Garden Plum Tomato soup the other day......it was very sweet.

HeinzEVILSight · 15/10/2008 21:57

notdoing, thanks for the headsup about the Tesco offer, will have a look tomorrow.

Talking of Tesco, I bought a slow cooker from them a few days about for less that a tenner, and made some fab lentil soup yesterday!

am thinking about trying butternut squash with carrots. Was wondering whether to put some bacon in too. Suggestions..... would it work?

Pea and coconut. It sounds weird but is delicious. I used to work above a buddhist cafe in Bethnal Green and they made it there. If anyone has a recipe I'd be very grateful!

HeinzEVILSight · 16/10/2008 17:00

sounds lovely raindog!

Courgette. Needs nothing except veg stock and onions and courgettes. Blended, it goes all creamy and lovely.

Raindog · 16/10/2008 17:01

It was gorgeous. I've never managed to get it right though. I think they used frozen peas, and the coconut was probably dessicated. It would be good for Halloween - it was a great bright green!

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 16/10/2008 17:03

dh makes an Argentinian soup (has minced beef in it) - lovely ! think it was from Lindsay Bareham's Soup book...
We also love hippipotami's Dutch pea soup..yum !

MadameCheese · 16/10/2008 17:04

Chickpea and leek or sweet potato and red pepper - yumsk!

shootfromthehip · 16/10/2008 17:05

Curried parsnip and apple, butternut squash, parsip and red onion, mushroom garlic and brandy, mushroom and brie.

God I'm hungry

bogie · 16/10/2008 17:06

An old friend of dp cooked us a chilli soup once and it was delish!
I wish I got the recipie because we have lost contact with them now

BlingLovin · 16/10/2008 17:07

I'm not convinced about the bacon with butternut soup personally - although a few chunks floating loose wouldn't do any harm I guess.

lulumama · 16/10/2008 17:09

chicken , followed by leek and potato and then roasted red pepper and tomato

Kathyis6incheshigh · 16/10/2008 17:18

There's a tomato, celery and apple one from the basic Delia cookery course, which I love. You cook everything slowly under a disc of greaseproof paper, with sherry. It has so much flavour and tastes really creamy even though there's nothing creamlike in there.
