What started out as a few mums trying to get helpful, friendly advice seems to have turned into a witch hunt....Get the mothers who even consider giving their babies solids before 6mths.
I was quite happy in my decision to start dd on a tsp of baby rice but now i just feel pressured even bullied that i could have done such a thing.
THANKS MUMSNET!

Any mums who would like to discuss weaning (no age restrictions)
would love any advice tips and help without being judged....

Okayyyyyy...I will chill out now.

Must be careful this afternoon - have been out with one of bosses and had a big glass of wine - am not exactly used to lunchtime drinking atm!! So if I do go off on one...

Really really don't want to ever ever again.

I am pretty confused after reading the other thread. I cannot see where 'witch hunt' comes into it.

Laneydaye - you said on the original thread that you felt pressurised into starting solids even though your baby wasn't making any signs of needing solids.

Had I seen that thread I would have encouraged you to delay solids till 6 months for all the reasons that were posted. If mothers want to ignore that advice then that is up to them. Personally I do not think instict is a guide for starting solids because often signs are misread by mothers such as a baby gazing at your food or sucking their hands. Those are other developmental signs not related to food. The guidance from our dieticians for starting solids also advises waiting till 6 months. Obviously it is guidance only. The only baby of mine who I did not start solids with till 6 months was my fourth one. Once I did that I wished I had done it with the others as I misread the signs. Night wakings at 4 months stopped with extra breastfeeds after a few nights.
At the end of the day you make your own decisions.
