really need to make 4 evening meals out of this, more if poss! Spent far too much money on other things lately (all necessities though).

In my freezer I have:
chips
veg
yorkshire puddings.

Fridge:
bacon
5 eggs
an onion
cheese
milk

cupboard:
smash
pasta
egg noodles
loads of baked beans
tin potatoes
tins sliced carrots
2 tins chickpeas (don't even know what to do with these or what they taste like)
tins of meatballs
mushy peas
tin tuna
tin spaghetti
cheddar cheese sauce mix
2 chasseur mixes
cheese and bacon pasta mix
tin ravioli
couple boxes of stuffing
gravy.

2 adults and 2 small kids.

Thanks for any help!

(packed lunches are accounted for, have enough in for those).

pasta and meatballs in tomato sauce

frittata

tuna mayo on jacket potatoes or toasted sandwiches

make a cheese or carbonara sauce with the bacon snipped into it with some pasta

beans on toast is a perfectly adequate and nutritious dinner

Gosh Lulumama, I'm going to nominate your beans on toast advice as quote of the week. In fact, I think I'm going to make a laminated poster of it and hang it in the kitchen!...Or maybe even embroider it.

spaghetti carbonara
(pasta with bacon + egss)

if you buy a couple of tins of tomatoes you could make a chick pea + veg stew to go with the yorkshire puddings

chips and beans

think you could make some gratinee of veg with (basically layers of veg with cheese sauce of the top) as well

ANTagony · 08/07/2008 12:10

Here goes:

Yorkshire puddings, with gravy, stuffing wrapped in bacon, sliced carrots, mushy peas and chips

Cheese and bacon pasta using the mix

Tuna omlet you could slice a few of the tinned potatoes in to bulk it up

Meetballs and pasta with a sprinkling of cheese

Baked beans and pasta with cheese - can be livened up with a bit of chilli powder or barbeque sauce

Meatballs, chips and carrots

Savoury pancakes stuffed with veg and baked beans (rolled up) and covered with a bit of grated cheese then grilled

Spaghetti smash and bacon with carrots

egg, chips and beans

use the cheese and bacon pasta mix thing (sounds a bit yucky!) with the cheese and bacon and pasta

chickpeas are delicious! Eat them out of the can. Can be added to a tomato sauce with pasta. One of our faves is chickpea, bacon and tomato sauce.

Can I ask why you have so much tinned veggies? Why not fresh?

You could do a lot more with fresh carrots, potatoes and frozen peas.

Do you have any tinned tomatoes in the cupboard?

slowlygoingcrazy · 08/07/2008 12:28

wow, thanks for all your replies, I think we'll be fine! :D

no tinned tomatoes, a few vine tomatoes left in fridge (prob a bit past their best)...two manky looking leeks too!

Collision - the reason why so much tinned stuff is that I buy it for when the fresh stuff runs out (like now), but usually end up going shopping again before it's used. also we bought loads of tinned stuff for a charity camping trip but when we got there food was provided so we brought it all back!

Manky leeks, past best vine tomatos a spoon of gravy powder (if you haven't got stock) a couple of pints of water and leave it to simmer for half an hour, blend. You've got a good fresh summer soup. The flavor in the tomatoes is improved when they've gone squishy - just makes them harder to eat.

We have eat out the pantry sessions it helps to keep a good turn over of food.

I wouldn't be without the odd tin and bag of frozen. We all have haven't made it to the shop days don't we?
