‘Supermarket’ chocolate used to be fine for me but in recent months, I’ve really started to taste the difference - so much of it has been ruined. It’s horrible! I never understood what people were getting at when they talked about mouthfeel but I understand now. So all the big brands, Mars, Nestle, Cadbury… I just won’t waste my money on any more. Lindor is okay but a bit too rich for me. I do like Hotel Chocolat. Hu Hazlenut is delicious but £4 for 60g! Russell and Atwell looks interesting but I haven’t tried any.

Where can we find decent chocolate these days?

Ocado stock an Italian brand called Novi which is dark or extra dark with whole hazelnuts and it’s delicious. It is £4 but for 130g

Waitrose No1 bars are lovely

They are delicious, I get the 46% milk chocolate one and savour every bite

Aldi choceur, Tony's chocolatony - especially the salted caramel one. I find if it has palm oil in the ingredients it is best avoided, as I don't get the chocolate satisfaction - then I think I want more, and eventually end up feeling ill before I satisfy the desire for chocolate 🙄

I normally have cadburys but today I bought some Asda milk chocolate in the yellow wrapper for 59p and it was actually really nice!

M&S have a new range of knock off bounty, snickers, mars etc. Apparantly it tastes retro.

Hadn’t considered M&S but will definitely be trying it!

Marks and Spencer, almost any kind of bar, is my go-to. Waitrose also lovely but I don't go there so much.

M&S chocolate is lovely!

I agree, it tastes of chocolate and isn't waxy like Cadbury etc.,

moppety · 31/08/2026 20:54

Montezuma 70% cherry is my absolute favourite.

Askandyforcompo · 31/08/2026 20:55

Waitrose No 1. Absolutely delicious!

I never understand the Tony’s love, I always find it very meh and very expensive.

I used to buy Waitrose own brand but I’m currently enjoying Tony’s. DD loves Tony’s too.
