Healthy breakfast

Want to start eating a healthy breakfast but struggling as both eggs and milk disagree with my stomach and I cant stand texture of things like porridge. Wondering if anyone has any ideas of healthy breakfast that don't include those things? Also don't like plant based milks either..

BarbarianBabs · 09/08/2026 22:36

peanut butter and apple?

Can you eat yoghurt.
I am meeting a food coach weekly at present and using an App that analyses what I eat and tells me what a good balance is.
My perfect breakfast that the app likes is a small amount of porridge oats and milled linseed made up with some chocolate protein powder and water, to which I add high protein low fat greek yoghurt, mixed seeds, chopped nuts and berries or grated apple. You could leave out the porridge bit. I have not had breakfast for years and adding this in, without much else changed in my diet has taken away any evening munchies and I have n been consistent losing a pound a week. I would not have believed it had I not experienced it.

Can you eat yoghurt? If so Greek yoghurt with fruit and seeds/nuts?

Ps. Worth giving porridge another try? Texture quite variable depending on the oats you buy and how long you cook them. You could also try oat bran.

What about something like this? I’ve been following someone on FB who has moved to Spain and she often has this for breakfast and I’ve been thinking of trying it myself. You could make up a batch for the week.

Can you handle dry cereal? I am lactose intolerant so have always had my cereal dry. My favourite is crunchy nut. When in season I put berries with it or sliced up banana. I also like overnight grapenuts which i made with vegan vanilla yoghurt (you don't have to use vegan) and frozen berries.

No breakfast - fast until lunch? 16:8

This morning I had strawberries and a slice of my homemade bread with marmalade, glass of OJ, cup of tea, followed by coffee.

I eat smoked salmon , bagel with an egg and tomatoes but you could sub out the egg with cottage cheese. If the cheese would upset your stomach then plain yogurt with berries and a sprinkling of seeds/nuts?

ThatSunnyCrow · 10/08/2026 00:18

Posted this on another thread earlier but I have a smoothie with banana, blueberries, blackberries, frozen raspberries, walnuts, ground almonds, ground flax seed, honey, natural yoghurt and a little milk up loosen in. Water could be a substitute for the milk maybe?

Girlintheframe · 10/08/2026 00:58

I can’t bear porridge but do like overnight oats. You can vary the texture of them by adding more/less water/milk/yoghurt or you could use your oats to make pancakes.

I really dislike a sweet or cold breakfast and have let go of eating what is perceived as normal breakfast food and just eat what I fancy.

I like something warming in the morning. I love miso soup or congee, I know most people have tofu with this but I don't like it so I'll have precooked chicken or steak. Sometimes I'll have chicken sausages with mushrooms, tomato and spinach which is very low calorie

Mygreyhair · 10/08/2026 04:03

Bread, cheese, salami and ham?

IAmKerplunk · 10/08/2026 04:08

Roasted peppers with mushrooms, onion - sweet potato. Maybe a bit of chicken.

like a pp I have let go of what is ‘normal’ breakfast food and eat what I like. So for me it is a hard boiled egg, a roasted pepper with roasted onions and mushrooms.

Home made baked beans on seed toast?

NuffSaidSam · 10/08/2026 04:17

Avocado and smoked salmon with a bit of wholemeal toast and some fruit.

Aabbcc1235 · 10/08/2026 04:47

I’d get a decent loaf of non-upf bread (if you only have the supermarket try Jason’s sourdough) and then have a slice of toast with a different topping each day:

Peanut butter
crushrd avocado
smoked salmon or trout
roasted tomatoes
cream cheese
Cottage cheese
leftover dinner from the night before

saltrock123 · 10/08/2026 06:05

I’m having sardines on toast, healthy and delicious.

likelysuspect · 10/08/2026 07:11

I dont categorise food into 'breakfast, lunch dinner' foods

Ive eaten soup for breakfast sometimes, tarka dhal, salad, things on toast, cooked foods as someone said above, rice dishes

Anything I fancy

AtleastitsnotMonday · 10/08/2026 14:15

A bit niche but I’m currently going through a phase of corn cakes topped with sliced tomatoes, plenty of salt, black pepper and balsamic.

bloominoreilly · 10/08/2026 15:03
