I cook a can of tomatoes with herbs and/or garlic. Once cooked just blend to make it smooth.

BecauseImWorthIt · 26/06/2008 18:37

I make my own - gently fry finely chopped onion and add tin of tomatoes and break them up as much as you can. Add as much finely chopped garlic as you like. Puree them with a stick/hand held blender, season and cook till reduced so it's very thick.

(You may also need to add a pinch of sugar, as tomatoes can be bitter.)

Cool before using.

Dragonbutter · 26/06/2008 18:37

i use english muffins and keep them in the freezer. just defrost in the microwave and cut in half, top with passata and cheese etc and grill for a minute.

LyraSilvertongue · 26/06/2008 18:38

Pizza dough is really easy. There's recipe in Delia's How To Cook.

LyraSilvertongue · 26/06/2008 18:38

O also use pitta breads as pizza bases. Quick and very easy.

mylittlepudding · 26/06/2008 18:39

I mix tomato puree/ passata/ herbs til it's the right consistency.

hairycaterpillar · 26/06/2008 18:40

I often use up leftover bolognaise sauce on our pizza's.

LotosEater · 26/06/2008 18:41

I make pizza dough in the breadmaker.

Sauce varies from making my own like BIWI, to using a jar of pasta sauce or passata

kids like a combination of puree/passata and ketchup mixed together

½ tin tomatoes
fair bit of tomato puree
bit of onion
1 clove of garlic
pinch of herbs (oregano usually)

Whizz in a mini blender and spread on pizza. I t can also be forzen (thank you to the Miaou family)

FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2008 18:42

fry onions, mushrooms and any other leftover veg eg courgette, peppers, add tinned tomatoes, herbs, tomato puree, and simmer until thick
I also like adding kidney beans and sweetcorn but people have opined this is a little odd

OverMyDeadBody · 26/06/2008 18:42

tomato sauce, like I'd make for a pasta. Don't ruin a home made pizza by smearing it in tomato puree!

OverMyDeadBody · 26/06/2008 18:45

I make cheap pizza dough with value flour, yeast and water.

Fried onions, garlic and passata and herbs for tomato sauce.

Any toppings that I find in fridge.

Also nice to make a pesto one instead of tomato sauce.

Or make foccacia bread with the pizza dough. Flatten like for pizza, add rosemary, sea salt and olive oil and garlic

Littlefish · 26/06/2008 18:47

I make a vegetable sauce

Tomatoes
Onions
Courgettes
Tomato Puree
(Sometimes carrots or butternut squash if I've got them)

Roasted in the oven
Blend together.

It's the only way dd will eat vegetables, so I make it up in big batches, and freeze it in small boxes.

TheChicken · 26/06/2008 18:47

mine dont eat much veg
are all still alive and healty

Littlefish · 26/06/2008 18:47
