I have never been served anti pasti. Ever.

Anti pasti is the mn equivalent of a tub of hummous and tortilla chips.

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 26/06/2008 17:51

Cod, I thought you were one of us.

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 26/06/2008 17:51

So what do you serve as a starter ??

colditz · 26/06/2008 17:52

I went to a party where they served ketamine....

Made swift exit to the pub

BecauseImWorthIt · 26/06/2008 17:53

I did it once, years ago, and made every bloody thing myself. Including marinated vegetables, layered in a jar so you could see all the different colours, cauliflower fritters with gorgonzola, blah, blah, blah.

And the buggers I'd invited just scoffed the lot and had no appreciation for the work/time etc.

Don't bother now!

TheChicken · 26/06/2008 17:55

i dont liek all of it

I love a good bit of antipasti. It has to be good, though. And I never serve it as a starter, funnily enough. I like it for a summery al fresco lunch, with lots of ice cold Prosecco [licks lips]. Of course, this is all just a fantasy life. I never really eat anti pasti and get lashed at lunchtime in the sun. It's never sunny. And I eat ham sarnies with my 3 yr old...

TheChicken · 26/06/2008 17:56

tbh i prefer bits with drinks itf i have gfolk over
so do some stuff form " cods canape heaven" (see mn recipe guides)

I'm anti pasti.

Cornish delicacy my arse.

MrsMattie · 26/06/2008 17:58

p.s. Houmous & tortillas rock! I love a good old crisps-and-dips starter. I mean, it soaks up wine and FFS, wine should be the staple starter to any meal, surely?

TheChicken · 26/06/2008 17:59

I agree@Cod. Ritz are divine . Philly is pretty delicious too, in a similar 1970s-tastic sort of way.

TheChicken · 26/06/2008 18:06

you see finger lines across the empty plate
when peopel haev scraped itup in a beerily glutonous way

My mum used to make a great party canape. We're talking the height of the 60s mind you!

Mix softened, salted butter with tomato ketchup till as well mixed as you can get it, then dollop on to Ritz crackers.

Sounds revolting but it's actually rather good!

SquiffyHock · 26/06/2008 18:42

Hubbys fave is Ritz crackers, philly, soy sauce (lots) and toasted sesame seeds. Sounds gross but it's addictive!

Mercy · 26/06/2008 18:47

No idea, we don't go to dinner parties.
