No idea what it is. Am not part of the dinner party scene.

hunkermunker · 26/06/2008 20:48

I have tried your mate Kate's one.

I may have invented it, in fact

pointydog · 26/06/2008 21:47

I do like ritz
and a tub of philly always comes in handy

but I just don't get the sweet chilli sauce bit

Aitch · 26/06/2008 22:28

ritz crackers and smoked salmon, cod, i'm tellin' ya. [dogs]

procrastinatingparent · 26/06/2008 22:34

Philly with sweet chili sauce (and a sprinkle of coriander for the ponces) is the definitive start to the evening. Served at every second Sydney bbq, when I lived there.

And I swear I have never yet produced it without someone asking me for the recipe. Have been tempted to lie about it, secret ingredients, mix for 20 mins to get mousse-like texture, but can never quite bring myself to tell such a shocking fib.

Best with rice crackers though.

uncool? check
the opposite of proper cooking? check
popular? check
actually surprisingly yummy? check

Aitch · 26/06/2008 22:59

i've never heard of this philly abomination, do you really whip it up? is it really popular in the pph circle? i saw you more as a lobster crew.

PrincessPeaHead · 28/06/2008 08:29

no it isn't popular in the pph circle, but it IS popular in the hideous PTA quiz night/charity evening on the cheap/similar event thing one is forced to go to with monotonous regularity...

honestly aitch it is as revolting as it sounds

TheChicken · 28/06/2008 09:10

it is more lovely when almost at the end of a botle of wine.
my other fave is supermarket indian samosas

i dont care if they are facotry floor sweepings

also i love chips and gravy form a chippy

onyl when drunk

Chips and grated cheese and gravy was a delicacy we dined upon at college... we didn't have to be drunk then, or, were we ever really sober?
