What's your favourite soup?

Mines cream of tomato 🍅

Just had tomato and basil, it was nice, but no where near as good as cream of tomato.

It tasted a bit pasta sauce-ish.

I remember my mum buying mulligatawny soup years ago and being fascinated by the name.

Boring but Lentil is my absolute favourite

DeposedPresident · 11/05/2026 19:35

Home made Scotch Broth.

maftan · 11/05/2026 20:12

Very simple, potato, carrot, onion (or leek), let the spuds go very soft and mash the stuff up or lightly blend. OMG food of the gods.

JacknDiane · 11/05/2026 20:14

I love soup but the only one I can make that tastes ok is lentil. And its amongst my least favourite.
Id love to make a great minestrone, broccoli and Stilton, mushroom, and leek & potato.

Any recipes appreciated 👏🙂 🤗

Leek and potato, aka Vichysoisse, cold in summer. Chose it as our starter for our wedding reception, late April 2000 at a well-known hotel in Edinburgh. It was sublime and I think all guests would have had a second helping. It really tasted home-made with beautiful stock.

canuckup · 11/05/2026 20:16

Minestrone at the moment

Homemade, I use a jar of tomato and basil pasta sauce. Really easy, full of veg.

Stilton and broccoli.

Love this as a home made soup. I couldn't eat Stilton on its own but delicious in a soup.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 11/05/2026 20:17

I just had chickpea and mint, which was lovely, with fresh mint from my allotment.

Owlmoonstar · 11/05/2026 21:09

I have made a generic vegetable soup before, using whatever was in the fridge.

Usually broccoli stalk, carrot, onion, garlic, and maybe a few tomato's and pepper chucked in for good measure.

Ive never made a specific soup or followed a recipe though.

French onion

BnmLK · 11/05/2026 21:19

Currently broccoli and cheddar but made a lovely roasted swede one over winter using an NT recipe. Also chicken soup after a roast with all the leftover veg thrown in.

jumpingjohnny · 11/05/2026 21:42

Saturday soup (but it's really a stew, not a soup) with dumplings and hard dough.

Carrot and coriander

Broccoli and stilton

But when I'm ill, vegetable cup a soup with those awful croutons or a tin of Baxter's broth.

elliesmummy19 · 11/05/2026 21:43

I’m not a big soup person. They tend to give me heartburn.

I do like a good pea and mint though.

CherryViper · 11/05/2026 22:02

Scottish lentil.

I love soup, DS is going to make a chicken and vegetable when they are home. I am making bread for the first time to accompany it.

SpiceGhoul · 12/05/2026 14:48

I love chicken & rice (either my Scottish grannies version or the Greek Avgolemono), lentil and bacon, chicken fajita or Hungarian mushroom soup.

I've just had a bowl of this soup it's a regular here but I add lots of chilli, garlic and coriander.

Roasted sweet potato and butternut squash. Home made.

Timetakesacigarette · 12/05/2026 14:54

Turnip soup but I very rarely see it on a menu. In fact, I don’t see turnips around much at all any more.

I make a lot of lentil soup.

Timetakesacigarette · 12/05/2026 14:56

I’d like a great pea and ham soup recipe.

Chelsea26 · 12/05/2026 18:55

Thai chicken and butternut squash is my favourite homemade at the moment. I also make gammon and split pea, harissa tomato, bean and spinach and curried veg and rice.

I love soup!

keffie12 · 12/05/2026 21:36

Tomato soup with loads of bread, and butter lathered with pepper. Good old fashioned comfort food
