I love it

I offer you polenta instead

notnowbernard · 17/06/2008 18:55

I LOVE it

When it's really creamy and chicken and mushroomy and parmesan cheesey

Peasant food (apparently) but lovely!

SoMuchToBits · 17/06/2008 18:55

Baby rice. Wins hands down.

oxocube · 17/06/2008 18:55

I like the first half a dozen mouthfuls, then get bored and wish I was eating something else. Never order it in a restaurant for this very reason

MamaG · 17/06/2008 18:56

I love it!

PeaGreene · 17/06/2008 18:57

OK, will revise thread title.

"Risotto is the most boring food in the world which pretends to be a meal on its own."

Polenta is only an acommpaniment isn't it, like mash potato?

And baby rice is not something I eat on a regular basis, so it doesn't count.

Love it. All garlicy and delish.

Find mozarella deathly dull, though. Yes, even teh really expensive stuff.

Hassled · 17/06/2008 18:57

It has the texture of sick. And it's never as nice as you think it's going to be. And you have to stir like a loon for hours to make it.

Iota · 17/06/2008 19:57

plain risotto is an accompniament in the iota household.

chicken risotto however is a very nice meal on its own.

Scuff · 17/06/2008 19:59

I love risotto.
Especially with seafood.

noddyholder · 17/06/2008 20:00

i love it

LaDiDaDi · 17/06/2008 20:01

I love risotto!
I eat it at least once/week, either spring vegetable (asparagus, peas and spinach) or roasted cherry tomato.

Yummy yummy!

Oh, and you have to open a bottle of wine to make it

Aero · 17/06/2008 20:03

I love risotto - any type really. Favourite in the Aero household atm is Risotto with prawn, lemon, spring onion and basil This is really tasty and no parmesan in sight!

Washersaurus · 17/06/2008 20:04

I love risotto but after making it I never feel like eating it

GentleOtter · 17/06/2008 20:05

cous cous......zzzzzz

Lubyloo · 17/06/2008 20:06

I love it! You need to liven it up with lotsd of lovely ingredients. DH makes a nice one with courgetters, peppers, spinach and sweet chilli sauce. I do a nice bacon and mushroom one. I think I might have to try Aero's prawn one. I have recently started making it in the slow cooker and it works really well.

PeaGreene · 17/06/2008 20:06

I opened wine (and put some in the food as well)

I used a good stock.

I put in chicken and mushrooms. And thyme. I have used garlic before but not this time.

It's still Very Dull and you're all wrong.

did you stir in more parmesan and butter than you could believe at the end tho?

that is what you need to do to make it yummy.

and iota is so so right. for the most boring food the world has ever produced I point you to polenta.

Spidermama · 17/06/2008 20:07

I LOVE risotto.

Maybe your tastebuds have been wrecked with age.

PeaGreene · 17/06/2008 20:09

But I had polenta once as an accompaniment to lovely tuscan sausages and a white bean and tomato sauce so I can forgive it anything. Was gorgeous.

Risotto and ciabatta for dinner tonight (when blinking Mr Tesco arrives anyway!) YUM, I blardy love risotto but you do need lots of cheese and butter!

blousy · 17/06/2008 20:11

My dh makes the best risotto in the world! He makes one with king prawns and lobster, one with asparagus and peas and another with mushroom and they are all divine and one of my favourite meals. He also does a fancy parmesan crisp thing on the top.
Tis not dull, it's gorgeous!!

Guadalupe · 17/06/2008 20:11

Rissoto is delicious with asparagus or rocket and lemon, loads of parmesan grated on the top, a few slices of parma ham on the side.

Miyazaki · 17/06/2008 20:12

ok, will give you benefit of doubt on that one, but I have never ever had nice polenta, wet or cakey, blurgh.

did you do the butter/parmesan stir at the end.

THAT is what make risotto nice when out.

MsSparkle · 17/06/2008 20:15

Ohh does anyone have a good recipe for a risotto? Have wanted to make it for ages.
