There's nothing normal about that.

Normal for a vegetarian

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/02/2026 12:09

What’s not normal?

I’ve just found some frozen vada in a supermarket so one day next week will be vada pav, possibly with homemade masala fries of some sort.

Is it pancake day on Tuesday?

I also think there should be a curry of some sort as we haven’t made one for weeks, although we have had a couple of takeaways.

Citygirlrurallife · 12/02/2026 21:35

Tonight: bean chilli and rice
Friday: tofish and sweet potato wedges
Saturday: out for dinner, with some friends before we realised its Valentine’s Day! Community table seated supper club at the local South American restaurant so should be fun and an antithesis to V Day!
Sunday: tbc
Monday: DS making risotto. First time all totally on his own, don’t even know what kind eeeeek!
Tuesday: Dolsot bimibap (pork for DH and DD, with tofu for DS and I) and pancakes for pudding obviously
Wednesday: DH can make his Mac n cheese

Citygirlrurallife · 12/02/2026 21:36

Watching chef’s table….i reckon we’ll have gumbo on Sunday

HalloumiFries · 13/02/2026 09:53

I can't be bothered looking back to my last post but I think it's fair to say that the plan didn't happen due to successive illnesses at home and no energy to cook, or keep anything down . We're a few days past all that now so I can start thinking about the week ahead. Remembered last night about Valentine's day so nipped out to M&S to get their meal deal, although we'll have it tonight (charcuterie board, sirloin steaks and profiteroles) as we've got friends coming round to watch the rugby on Saturday - will order pizza and make some salads.

That's a fairly unhealthy few days so will try to reset with a Tuscan bean stew on Sunday, and then:

Monday: Cheesy leeks with a baked potato
Tuesday: Carrot and lentil soup - and pancakes!
Wednesday: More soup, with oatcakes and cheese
Thursday: Pasta with roasted veg and pesto
Friday: Veggie chilli

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/02/2026 10:28

Cheesy leeks and baked potato sounds like a top class meal to me!

HalloumiFries · 13/02/2026 11:28

It's an absolute favourite in this house - don't know why we don't have it more often. I've been craving it for the last week but had to wait for DH to get over his bout of the sickness bug and make sure we are all clear to do it justice.

Forgottenmyphone · 13/02/2026 14:13

Tonight - Lebanese moussaka
Tomorrow - marry me gnocchi
Sunday - stuffed butternut
M - red lentil koftas
T - cauliflower and cashew biryani
W - jerk chickpeas & roasted peppers with callaloo
Th - leek orzotto

SpiceGhoul · 13/02/2026 22:13

Sunday- Mince & tatties, served in a giant Yorkshire pudding with peas and broccoli.
Monday - Red Thai curry noodle soup, clearing the veg drawer out. May cook a few veg gyoza too as they've been in the freezer a while.
Tuesday - One pot chilli mac (all eating at different times so this works well with some garlic baguette slices and salad)
Wednesday - Tandoori chicken salad with a raita dressing and naan croutons
Thursday - Sausage plait, homemade chips and beans (my chip pan only comes out about twice a year so I'm very excited for this)
Friday - I'm home alone so I think I'll have either buffalo wings with celery and blue cheese dip or buy a duck and pancake kit from Aldi.
Saturday - Curry night. Have BIL staying and him and OH will be hungover. We're big on spicy food so I think I'll made South Indian garlic chilli chicken (will also do a korma for BILs partner who can't handle the heat). Will have rice/naan/mini poppadoms and will probably cook some vegetable pakoras I have in the freezer. Doesn't fit the theme at all but I'm making old school cake and pink custard as it's been requested.

UnimaginableWindBird · 14/02/2026 18:12

This week's plan for us:

Tonight - Creamy kale & chicken traybake
Tuesday - Spicy bacon and beans
Wednesday - Cauliflower with chickpeas and lemon bulgur
Thursday - Fish and leek pie with swede mash (new recipe for me)
Friday - Shop bought pies, mash, loadsa veg.
Saturday - beetroot risotto

BiddyPopthe2nd · 17/02/2026 13:58

I ended up having a steak with oven fries and brocolli on Friday night.
Saturday I did coq au vin with potato gratin (luckily not quite including the top of my baby finger from the mandolin!).
Sunday was duck breast and steamed brocolli.
Mon was Lamb shwarma in a bowl (as I couldn’t get flatbreads) with hummus, HM tabluleh, HM pickled onions and some olives.

Today I plan chicken chasseur and baby roasties - but now have an evening event so it may be the lasagna from tomorrow.
Tomorrow is pre-made lasagna (from shop) I need to use up
Thursday is pizza with Fennell salami and chestnut mushrooms.
Friday is chicken and mushroom vol au vents (I batch made the sauce last week).

And I feel like I want to do a proper roast chicken on Saturday, with leftovers in some form on Sunday.
or else cod served on a pumpkin puree with steamed baby potatoes, and probably a risotto, if not a roast.

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 19/02/2026 10:27

Tomorrow: creamy mushroom pasta with roasted asparagus and tenderstem
Saturday: aubergine and tofu paprikash
Sunday: veggie shepherds pie
Monday: burrito bowls
Tuesday: veggie paella

Thursday: Onion bahji burgers

I am having a Greek moment.

Tonight- Pastitsio with greek salad
Friday- greek lemon and oregano roast chicken with 'green' rice and feta salad (green rice is one my Greek FIL used to make... boiled rice, then mixed through with mounds of dill, spring onions and mint, lemon and olive oil, left to stand for the greens to wilt a bit.
Saturday- we are out
Sunday- I am finally going to try my hand at spanakopita.

HalloumiFries · 20/02/2026 09:31

@DeposedPresident I'd like to come for dinner (for a few nights) please.

I love that green rice but dill really doesn't agree with me - love it when I'm eating it. Not so much afterwards. I can omit or substitute it in so many Greek recipes but when it comes to things like this, there isn't really another option, the dill is so important to the flavour.

I'm also embracing my Greek roots on at least one day this coming week. I'm really craving stifado in this cold weather.

Tomorrow: Chicken thighs with cider-braised cabbage, carrots and roast potatoes
Sunday: Stifado
Monday: Creamy bean stew with courgettes and spinach
Tuesday: Chilli cabbage noodles
Wednesday: Lentil Ragu with bread
Thursday: Roast veg and gnocchi bake
Friday: Pub tea with neighbours

Citygirlrurallife · 20/02/2026 17:31

Only planned ahead a few days so will update once the weekend is over

tonight: DH’s mac’n’cheese
tomorrow: roast tomato and lentil soup with cheese toasties for lunch, roast dinner in the evening - chicken for meat eaters and lentil loaf for veggies (we have friends staying for the weekend)
sunday: katsu curry - tofu for DS and I, pork for DH and DD
monday: DH and I are going to a friend’s stand up. We were hoping to grab a bite before but I think we will have to take sandwiches on the train, so will make us one of my chopped salads for lunch (usually whatever green veg I have, beans of some description, feta, quinoa and lots of herbs) as DH has been requesting it

Forgottenmyphone · 20/02/2026 19:37

Tonight - falafel and hummus burgers
Tomorrow - soy and sesame tofu stir fry
Sunday - cauliflower cheese pasties
M - Thai salmon curry
T - baked sweet potatoes with taco beans and manchego
W - spring greens minestrone
Th - aloo gobi traybake

Sounds fabulous! Do you have a good pastitio recipe? SIL makes it but....I am.convinced it's supposed to be better than that!

My top spanakopita tip is use more feta! To get the extra goo!

DeposedPresident · 21/02/2026 09:27

For some reason the spanakopita is making me nervous. Not sure why- my mother used to make it all the time! I think more feta is a good idea. Grin
