Dh is on an annoying diet but, on upside, DD is trying hard to eat a wider variety of things. So I'm still cooking two meals, but different combinations! Grin. And for some of DH's meals, he jas to just suck it up and cook his own.

This week:

"Green" gnocchi - homemade pesto and creme fraiche with steamed greens and burrata (DH will be cooking his own chicken breast and eating separately!).
Tomato and sausage pasta (sans DH)
Mince tacos
Chicken thighs with new potatoes and veg
Fried cod fillets with new potatose and veg (I will steam DH's. I can't imagine it will be the most delicious, but he will be happy).
Pancetta and cabbage pasta (also sans DH).

murasaki · 07/09/2026 16:46

I'd do his fish in a foil parcel with some lemon juice, black pepper and garlic. that's how I do mine, and it's tasty.

Edited to say actually he can do it himself!

SpaceOP · 11/09/2026 10:36

@murasaki I ordered the wrong fish on Ocado anyway so we only got two fillets vs the pack of frozen ones I THOUGHT I'd ordered so he had chicken. Which he cooked himself! Grin

Am still on last week's plan but actually planning now for next week as we have family coming over this weekend.

Sunday: Splashing out with a roast rib of beef, greek lemon potatoes, greens in miso butter and yorkshire puddings (I'd skip the yorkies but we have 5 hungry teenagers who all love them and I think there'd be a riot if I didn't provide. I am sort of famous for my yorkshires!).

Monday: Stuffed chicken breast wrapped in parma ham and roasted with cherry tomatoes. Served on new potatoes (so that DH can eat the potatoes - he'll have to cook his own chicken breast!)

Tuesday: Pork bao buns - I watched Saturday kitchen for the first time ever this week and am inspired. I do feel a bit bad for DH but I won't add any extra fat so maybe he WILL eat the pork? Who knows. (I also want to try the Ottolenghi recipes and now have to buy the book. Bugger).

Wed: I am keen to try the Ottolenghi butternut parmagiana recipe from Saturday kitchen, and the rice. But suspect it won't be substantial enough for DS. So, still channeling Saturday kitchen, might do some schnitzel as well and do extra to freeze!

I'm only planning to then becuase we have some stuff going on and I'm nto sure who is around or when. And if there's beef leftover, I might add a cottage pie to my rotation.

HalloumiFries · 11/09/2026 11:18

Do you have a recipe for the jambalaya @Lastqueenofscotland2 ?

Last night we had veggie sausages, roast potatoes, giant yorkies and green beans.

We're out tonight.

Tomorrow I'm making a massive fan of lentil chilli which should do us for a couple of days.

Pizzas and salad on Monday.

Feta and pepper omelettes on Tuesday, I think.

BiddyPopthe2nd · 11/09/2026 22:12

I couldn’t face healthy tonight. So it was buffalo wings with oven chips and blue cheese sauce.

inhave chicken thighs for tomorrow - probably feta and thyme chicken with roasted yellow courgette.
need short ribs and proper mash on Sunday (due to be miserable).
Monday butter chicken curry
Tuesday chicken fajitas
Wednesday I am home until Monday (very early morning) - Thursday is work stuff but the rest will depend on what DH has bought or the food shopping I do

yamsam · 12/09/2026 07:54

New to this thread! I always meal plan usually for about four days but I’m trying to get up to planning the whole week and sticking to it - this thread will hopefully be great for some inspiration because I feel a bit stuck in a rut with the same old meals. Also trying to make stuff that will
suit all four of us more often, I do end up doing separate meals for us and the kids a lot. They’re still pretty young (8 and 5) but are getting better at eating more variety (a bit 🙈🙈)

Tonight we are at a family party, but from tomorrow -

S: Bacon, eggs, sausage, tomatoes and beans
M: Pizza // Spaghetti carbonara
T: Omelette and salad
W: Soup and sausage rolls
T: Ravioli, salad and GB
F: Sausages, veg, mini Yorkshires and gravy
S: Nuggets/fish fingers and fries // we are at another party!
S: Lasagne, salad and GB

murasaki · 12/09/2026 12:56

We got a gousto box as DP had a 60 % discount....4 meals for 24 inc delivery and they tend to leave us with a lunch, so he can take that to work.

S:Teesside chicken parmo, garlic mayo, chips, salad
S: Mongolian lamb stir fry with garlic rice
M: Poutine with pulled pork, as we've never tried poutine and have always been intrigued. My Canadian rellies will be appalled though as it's mozzarella not cheese curds
T: no recipe card, so he'll have to look it up, but it's clearly a chicken and black bean taco thing.
W: Non gousto, lasagna and salad
T: Pork belly and bean stew, garlic bread

SpiceGhoul · 12/09/2026 22:18

Saturday - South Indian garlic chilli chicken and mini poppadoms
Sunday - Stovies with bread and butter
Monday - Chinese egg and tomato stir fry with rice
Tuesday - Trying out Pinwheel taco kebab skewer things with cowboy caviar and guacamole.
Wednesday - Lentil and bean chilli jackets (with leftover salad bits from Tuesday)
Thursday- Beef pho (cheating and using a flavour bomb)
Friday - Nandos style chicken and halloumi burgers with wedges, corn and coleslaw.

HedwigHedgepig · 13/09/2026 18:47

Dinners have suffered a bit from a creative perspective recently, I've been on all nursery pick ups for a few weeks (and remain so) so dinners have needed to be quick and easy before the kids get too tired to eat.

Tonight: roast
M: veggie chilli and rice (burritos for adults)
T: veggie 'chicken' burgers with herby smoked paprika sweet potatoes
W: veggie kebab flatbreads with salad
T: veggie 'chicken' curry, rice, naan, mini poppadoms
F: pasta vegball bake
S: baked potato 'lasagne'

Also got a leek to use up after making a vat of leek and potato soup this weekend, so considering a Quorn, leek and mushroom risotto if I get time, I can swap something else out. Toddler is extremely awkward with dinners at the moment though so not sure I can face him spitting out every mouthful!

murasaki · 13/09/2026 18:52

Leek and potato soup is lush, but your toddler could look like Slimer from Ghostbusters if he chooses to spit it out...

Will not be authentic but…
veggie sausages in the airfryer
fry off onion, celery, garlic, chilli.
add paprika, cayenne, cumin, orengao
Add tinned Toms and cook them down a bit
Add rice and stock
once that’s nearly cooked add kidney beans, sweetcorn and chop up the now cooked veggie sausages and add them,

I’ve probably horrified someone with that but it’s tasty! (I’m eating it right now!)

Thanks so much. It sounds good but I’m a bit dubious about the tinned tomatoes!

HalloumiFries · Today 08:37

I don't think I could live without tinned tomatoes - they are the backbone of around 3-4 meals each week for us.

I'm also making jambalya this weekend, but Jamie Oliver's version, minus the prawns.

Tonight: Black bean enchiladas
Tomorrow: Jambalya
Sunday: Roast chicken dinner
Monday: Minestrone
Tuesday: Veggie chilli with flatbreads
Wednesday: Baked potatoes (various toppings available - tuna, egg may, cheese, baked beans)
Thursday: Pasta with chorizo and red pepper sauce
Friday: Breaded cod, potato wedges and veg

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · Today 09:05

I can cope with the Mutti ones very occasionally, but they are far from my favourite thing.

murasaki · Today 11:32

I tend to use passata so the flavour is there but not the texture of tinned tomatoes.

What is it about tinned tomatoes you dont like? I agree that the mutti ones are nice without the big clumps of tomato. But overall, I also use them a lot but they do require some love - youbcant jiat pour them into your pot, heat and eat. I saw someone once suggesting just tinned tomatoes on toast - like baked beans - and honestly, I felt sick! 🤣🤣

I also always always add a teaspoon of sugar, even with the fancy mutti ones and for any meal im making!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · Today 16:03

Yes, it’s the clumps that I don’t like. I don’t mind passata.

I also dislike the fact that too many vegetarian recipes rely on tinned tomatoes. I’ve even seen recipes for shepherds pie using them - might be nice enough but definitely not shepherds pie!

That's an outrage, shepherd's pie needs lamb stock!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · Today 17:18

And actual shepherds.

Couple of nights not accounted for due to stuff on, so will be something on toast/omelette type teas. The rest is:
Jacket potato (I'm in a jp phase at the moment)
Aubergine parmigiana
Flatbread with roasted veg and halloumi
Spring veg and tarragon risotto - not v seasonal but have frozen broad beans and asparagus to use up)
Lasagne - trying a new recipe I've found - spinach and pesto. I don't mind tinned tomatoes but I hate tomato based veggie meals like ratatouille or veg lasagne.
