Tinned Pears ???

BeaLola · 25/08/2025 12:52

.... where can I find them ? Everywhere I look there is tinned pineapple, mandarins, grapefruit even rhubarb but no pears

I don't want fresh ones - I was going to get the tinned ones to do a recipe for my DH who loves pears - I detest them

CalzoneOnLegs · 25/08/2025 13:00

@BeaLola Asda sell them I use them a lot and I found some Princes brand in co op the other day when I had none in stock and needed for a recipe
lovely with blue cheese and roasted walnuts in a salad and lovely for crumbles with frozen berries. I haven’t seen them in Lidl though
actually nicer than fresh pears often

Thank you all - I had tried Aldi, Lidl, Sainsburys, Waitrose & MaS

There is a coop and Asda a little further away - will try there

Asda, Tesco’s I think. Morrisons probably too. Depending on the size of the store. But when I googled tinned pears Morrisons, along the top it brought up lots of other stores that sell them. Also Del Monte, so anywhere that sells that brand should have them too.

Venalopolos · 25/08/2025 13:09

We get them delivered regularly on our Morrisons delivery.

Tesco and Sainsburys both have them online. Maybe you would find them in their larger stores.

cherrytree12345 · 25/08/2025 13:12

Trying to find gooseberries- tinned, fresh, frozen anyway. They are no where to be seen. Tried growing them without success. Any ideas??

Suitcaseforlife · 25/08/2025 13:14

I get them regularly from Tesco.

@cherrytree12345 gooseberries aren’t a profitable crop anymore and they are very seasonal in UK. Shame really, my Gran used to grow them and make jam and it was lovely

BunnyLover7 · 25/08/2025 13:20

Love tinned pears!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 25/08/2025 14:05

I got some in Tesco the other day to make sorbet.

onwards2025 · 25/08/2025 14:06

I buy them regularly from Tesco

AnSolas · 25/08/2025 14:14

Tesco vote here too.

But if you dont want the sliced look for mixed fruit cans as they will have about 1/2 a can of cube size pare.

If you bake sponges use the rest of the fruit as if they are wet raisins etc
Or add to plain yogart

Jackrabbit22 · 25/08/2025 14:25

I get them regularly in our large Tesco.

marylou25 · 25/08/2025 15:34

Lidl but they don't always have them, when they do I stock up, it's a larger than normal size tin and good value although there is always one rock hard pear in there! That problem though is not confined to Lidl, I always seem to get one.
