mankymummy · 25/05/2008 19:31

pesto sauce and a jar of the roasted peppers in olive oil. maybe with anchovies. and parmesan on top.

tassisssss · 25/05/2008 19:32

that sounds yum

ours is penne with pesto, cream, peas and ham topped with cheese

or i usually have batches of tomato sauce with hidden beg (mushrooms, onions and courgettes usually) in the freezer so this is another standby

Ilovedirtydancing · 25/05/2008 19:32

I have been making this long before Jamie's recipe.

That was my thought too! Actually I have just bought the ingredients for it. I'll let you know how it goes, my family normally stick their tongues out at cheesey sauces.

mylovelymonster · 25/05/2008 19:35

Mine is olive oil, chili flakes, garlic, peeled raw prawns, and spinach, usually with spaghetti

pregnabrain · 25/05/2008 19:35

Mine is:

pasta with broccoli and anchovies.

boil water
cook broccoli in it until really cooked (mushier than you'd eat it, iyswim)
scoop out and drain broccoli.
bung pasta in the boiling broccoli water
heat olive oil and garlic in frying pan
add a couple of chopped anchovies.
add the cooked broccoli chopped up small.
chilli flakes and s&p
fry for five minutes.
add the cooked pasta and mix all through.

a taste sensation

also nice with no anchovies and smothered in parmesan afterwards.

DDs favourite is tomato passata with finely grated carrot and courgette, and basil, generally from the freezer so v. quick, and a dash of cheese sauce.

cyteen · 25/05/2008 19:40

Spaghetti with olive oil, chilli and garlic. Parmesan optional, salt and pepper essential.

Ilovedirtydancing · 25/05/2008 19:40

Strangely I bought Jamie's sun dried tomato pesto and it was lovely.

Have tried tesco's red pesto which was disgusting and red pesto from Lidls which is quite nice.

Mine is pasta carbonara:

lardons/pancetta/bacon
cream
egg
parmesan cheese.

It takes a minute longer than the time it takes to cook the pasta.

Twinkie1 · 25/05/2008 19:53

Chorizo and courgette pasta with ready made fresh arribata sauce.

Mozzarella, tomato and tenderstem brocolli pasta when we are in a desperate rush.

I hate pesto think it smells like sopme dodgy perfume so refuse to eat it - which oisses DH off no end!

Cathpot · 25/05/2008 19:59

tuna, red pesto, plain yoghurt, squeeze of lemon, sweet corn optional chilli

ILoveDolly · 25/05/2008 20:06

ham carbonara -
cook spaghetti/whatever pasta you have
drain, put back on heat and crack onto pan one egg for each person.
add black pepper and chopped up pieces of ham (or precooked lardons if you are making this nice!!))
a dash of olive oil may be required. if not you can lob in some creme fraiche which makes it more of a sauce.
stir rapidly until egg is all cooked.

this is popular in my house which makes me wonder why i cook more elaborate meals

cupsoftea · 25/05/2008 20:08

pasta, with butter or olive oil with ketchup or tom sauce plus some tinned veg or grated carrot & cheese

meridian · 25/05/2008 20:12

a cheats alfredo type sauce

1 large tub creame fraiche
1-2 garlic cloves crushed
1 cup grated chedder cheese
1/2 cup grated parmesan
pepper

warm on med-low heat stirring occasionally until melted throughly, pour over pasta... you can crumble some bacon in as well... or serve with some fresh peas, or asparagus, etc. lovely this DH's and DS's fav dinner.

lackaDAISYcal · 25/05/2008 20:19

saute onion and garlic adn a handful of cherry tomaotes in lots of good quality olive oil with some chilli flakes (chipolte chillies are v nice for the smoky flavour), add some prawns and the juice of a couple of lemons. Heat through till the prawns are hot and then toss into some freshly cooked long pasta (nice with fresh spaghetti) and a generous helping of chopped flat leaf parsley.

Smother in pepper and parmesan cheese and serve.

I have to eat it with gluten free dried pasta, and the sauce is ready by the time the pasta has cooked.

Tis deeeeelicious and my DSs favourite dish.

Ilovedirtydancing · 25/05/2008 20:31

meridian-that sounds yummy.

Ilovedirtydancing · 25/05/2008 20:32

lackadaisycal-are the chilli flakes available in the supermarket?

Collision · 25/05/2008 20:35

pregnabrain.....mine is the same as yours!

We love it but can I give you a tip?

Cook your broccoli for 5 or 6 mins and then add the pasta to the same pan while the broccoli is cooking! so much quicker!

Drain it all and then add the anchovies and parmesan and black pepper!

AitchTwoCiao · 25/05/2008 20:43

pasta caprese. boil pasta with clove of garlic, then mix with chopped fresh toms, good slug and a bit of olive oil, torn basil and chopped fresh toms. or pesto if you don't have fresh basil in. serve in a big bowl immediately.

lackaDAISYcal · 25/05/2008 20:46

yes, supermarket ranges or Schwartz, or you could use crushed chillies or fresh ones as well. I think the chipolte ones came from Waitrose and were in a little stacking thing with other mexican herbs.

candyfluff · 25/05/2008 21:09

tesco cheese sauce with grated cathederal city into it crispy streaky bacon with taglitelli pasta yummy
