Recipe to use up whiskey?

Bluepenguin2 · 05/07/2025 22:06

I have half a bottle of this taking up cupboard space. I'm loathe to throw it out as it's expensive stuff but nobody drinks it. Planning to use some to make Christmas puddings, but any suggestions for how I could use this up? Specifically looking for recipes where the flavour will be masked/improved

Thanks!

Tea Brack, lovely with a cuppa!

If you eat meat, could make a whiskey peppercorn type sauce for steak.

AdaColeman · 05/07/2025 22:41

Chranachran, ideal as raspberries are in season just now, and it is delicious!

AdaColeman · 05/07/2025 22:46

As well as being great with steak, whiskey peppercorn sauce takes sausages or pork chops to the next level.

I always add it when I'm making marmalade

KnickerlessParsons · 05/07/2025 22:58

Hold on for a few months and you’ll be able to make blueberry whisky

Cranachan. I have a cream charger and when I drain the fruit I like to mix the unwhipped cream with the fruity whisky before charging it.

Or, if you like gin and tonic, try whisky and tonic - it's very nice.

Ooh, def make a whiskey sour or toss it in a BBQ sauce

Bluepenguin2 · 06/07/2025 08:16

@Aparecium what's a cream charger?

Also I've never thought of whiskey and tonic, I've tried it with ginger beer but it's too whiskey tasting. I'll try it with tonic!

That should read blackberry whisky

I always forage a ton of blackberries to make jam so this would be doable... just steep some blackberries in whiskey? What does it taste like? (Other than blackberries and whiskey, obviously)

Oh yes, Bramble Whiskey made by adding blackberries and sugar to whiskey is a good idea.

Yes planning to make Christmas cake and pudding soon but I've got half a large bottle to use up so needed a few more suggestions! You've all been much more helpful than Google was 😁
