Best Shop Bought Dessert?

ForeverTipsy · 21/04/2025 18:32

What's everyone's favourite shop bought dessert? I need to pick up something to take to a friend's on Friday night, think there will be three or four of us. Preferably something cold so host doesn't have to warm anything up, so profiteroles, cheesecake, panna cotta etc. I have M&S, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Iceland and Asda within 15 mins of me...any ideas please?

Crosta Mollica Tartuffe - in the freezer cabinet. The chocolate one is heaven on a plate.

Feelinglikeadiv · 21/04/2025 19:42

M&S or Sainsbury's lemon tart and a punnet or two of raspberries, classic and one of the few I think genuinely as good shop bought. Not sure if Tesco or Asda have a good one too, I've not tried theirs

I came on to say lemon tart and raspberries. M&S, Sainsbury's and Waitrose all good. Bit of pouring cream too, even better.

I went through a profiteroles obsession during early the breastfeeding wild hunger. I can confirm M&S are the best - even nicer than the Waitrose ones.

They also do an amazing chocolate eclair in their best ever range. I’ve actually had to ban myself from buying them but I’d say each one would serve 2 as they are very rich.

Sainsbury’s taste the difference white chocolate and berry cheesecake

Eton Mess…. Meringue nests, broken up with raspberries and whipped double cream. Available everywhere and absolute Heaven!

Comedycook · 21/04/2025 20:01

In the Sainsbury's bakery section they do amazing raspberry and lemon individual tarts...they are my favourite!

M & S strawberry trifle goes down well in our house. Their lemon tart is also superb.

Lemon tart, raspberries and cream - all supermarkets sell them.

Strongly third this

Waitrose ones! Or M&S . Lemon tart or apple tart

martinisforeveryone · 21/04/2025 20:10

Tesco do various flavours of frozen roulade for£ 5.35. I loved their passionfruit one, but they don't seem to have that any more. Belgian chocolate and praline or dark chocolate and raspberry seem to be in stock, so you could choose one and add some fresh fruit alongside. It says they serve 8.

storminabuttercup · 21/04/2025 20:26

i know you said cold but cartmel sticky toffee pud is the GOAT of shop bought puddings

we really like the English cheesecake company cheesecakes and the M&S basque one is very good

then M&S profiteroles

Share an eclair? Don't be silly 😂

Just Googled, think this is Waitrose/Ocado? I can actually drive to a Waitrose in around 15 mins actually...

My friends are very restrained with rich food so if there are three of us then them two would share one and I would never dream of committing such a scandalous act! 🤣

Agreed! I'd think it very odd to turn up for dinner and be offered half an eclair.

Mumofyellows · 21/04/2025 20:57

Waitrose New York cheesecake is my absolute fave.
I also love Rachel's organic divine rice puddings.

Ah yes. You've just reminded me Aldi did a gorgeous Sicilian lemon frozen roulade thing earlier this year. Just had to defrost. Perhaps I'll look for one of those with some pouring cream.

They used to sell them in Tesco, but stopped a couple of months ago. Gutted! Our nearest Waitrose is about100 miles away, so Tartuffes are a distant dream 😭

Ilovemyshed · 21/04/2025 22:18

Cook- toffee roulade!

I know it sounds like madness - but these aren’t any old eclairs - they’re giant M&S eclairs!

Ladyymuck · 21/04/2025 23:44

Aldi do delicious pistachio tiramisus. They used to do limoncello ones but not seen them this year. M&S have some lovely puddings in their freezer section and I also love their salted caramel profiteroles and melt in the middle choc puddings
