I thought this might be an interesting idea for a thread
We can ask for suggestions on something to cook with an ingredient that is lurking in the cupboard, the freezer, needs using up or bought by mistake

My problem food..
I have a bag of frozen butternut squash chunks? Any ideas? All I can think is soup

What can I make with

A bag of fine polenta.

No idea why I bought it

Dill is great with Feta
I make a dill, feta and orange and beetroot salad
You can also make a whipped feta dip and chuck dill in

Sprinkle on your roast potatoes before adding to the fat. It makes them super crispy

I have a kg bag of chia seeds in my cupboard (part used). Apart from chia pudding, (and adding to porridge, salads, etc. as topping) what can I do with them?

Butternut squash I'd put in a curry or risotto

Dill I'd add to roasted vegetables once they're not piping hot and make a roast veg salad - there's a cafe near me that does this dish and I love it

Spa water?

My local spa serves water with chia seeds and citrus in it

Chia seed spa water - now I wouldn't have thought of that! Just reading up on it..... apparently, it's a TikTok thing.

• Christmas pudding - the use by date doesn’t apply except in law. Keep it until this coming Christmas or the next one, perhaps. It will grow up to be darker, richer, deeper …

• Polenta - cornbread https://eatlittlebird.com/cornbread-recipe/. As a gf baker, I suggest using a spoonful more milk and allow to sit for half an hour for extra rehydration. This will reduce any grittiness.

What can I make with ....dried sage and onion stuffing?
I have 3 boxes in the cupboard!

Boxes of stuffing:

stuffed chicken thighs using your prepared stuffing mix instead of the first few steps of the recipe.

I am a meat eater but would quite happily just have extra stuffing, roast potatoes, veg and lashings of gravy!

You can make it up into stuffing balls, freeze and then take put a couple at a time to serve as a side with pork chops/chicken thighs etc
