Five year old frozen goose

DH discovered a freezer in the garage today. We apparently filled it with food in the first lockdown. Bagels, beef mince, chicken, and for some reason we also decided to freeze a gigantic goose. I have no recollection of this but there it is. What on earth do we do with it? Will it be revolting? DH marched proudly into the kitchen with it today but I made him march right back to the garage with it so we can make a plan. I'm not even convinced it will fit in the oven. We could maybe cook it outside in the smoker?

People eat geese???? 🤢

Traditional Christmas dinner before turkey became popular.

@Basketballhoop bit did you eat it though?! 😅

Thanks everyone. So I guess if I scrape the frost off something and it looks different in places then it's not going to taste so great but won't kill me. Good to know!

It should be fine. Defrost it first. Roast it and pop the leftovers in a curry and goodness knows what else (not a fan of goose, but I reckon a bit of hoisin sauce might come to the rescue).

'25 is the year in which we are delving into the back of cupboards and freezers.

Have to admit, no. Emptying over 2 tons of food from 2 chest freezers, there was very little we salvaged for her.
There were 15 year old goose giblets, 28 year old lamb livers and all sorts of other obscurities.

I think I am down to my last remaining COVID meat joint. I did a full inventory last summer and we have been working our way through it since.

Thank you all so much. You have really made me smile and feel slightly less nuts.

Seems opinion is divided on whether the goose might work or should be disposed of. So I might allow DH to decide and report back on the results. However we all seem to be in agreement that it's bonkers that I forgot a whole freezer. I did get obsessed with keeping good food stores during lockdown. I think I did a great job in stocking the larder and maybe DH caught the obsession and bought a freezer and stocked that.
