I have an amazing Gusto recipe that uses it, I’ll get a photo of the card when I’m downstairs. Having a lovely slow morning in bed with coffees for us and a shapesorter for the 14 month old 👌🏻👌🏻

I mix it with a little soy, rice vinegar and sesame oil to make a loose paste and you can cover chicken and veg to make a tray bake.

You can also coat a chicken breast or flattened chicken thighs with it. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake and serve it in a burger bun with lots of fresh zingy salad.

Bibimbap is my favourite Korean meal and it’s used in that.

I use it with noodles and it’s delicious. I mix it with soy sauce, tahini, garlic, lemon & ginger and mix it in with the gochunfang and add it to some noodles and tofu and it’s delicious.

I love bibimbap. It’s a proper midweek staple for us.

Look up Rukhmini Iyer's roasting tray recipe, Korean Barbeque-Style Chicken with Pepoers, Carrots and Spinach. It's super easy and really nice.

This thread is timely for me as I have also just got this and a few other Korean things. I like to make soup bowls and had the ingredients in my shop for next day delivery when we watched an episode of BEEF based on Korean Californians. One ep this guy was making a soup bowl and served it with kimchee and that set me off shopping! There's a shop in a nearby town that I want to visit for more ingredients.

Forgot to say, one recipe called for gochujang in the soup bowl.

milesmachine · 25/05/2024 09:22

Fantastic marinade for meat.
1tbsp gochujang paste
1/2 tbsp soy sauce
1tbsp sherry
Glug sesame oil
1/2 tbsp honey
Chopped garlic and ginger

Makes a wonderful flavour and some sweetness in it

I often add this to 300ml chicken stock in the slow cooker and add some pork belly strips. Then once slow cooked, chop and fry them off in a pan with some of the sauce and you've got meat for stir fries or fried rice dishes...

Oh there is a stunning roasted cauliflower gochujang Mac and cheese. It was a hello fresh recipe- I know it doesn’t sound like much but it is delicious! It’ll come up on google

Sorry for the delay, here it is!! You can see by how the card is a bit grubby that it’s a hit in our house, enjoy!

Also, for anyone wondering (if they use the gusto card) an oxo stock cube weighs about 13 grams so I just use half an oxo!

TheGriffle · 25/05/2024 18:37

Tteokbokki. It’s delicious.
What kimchi recipe do you use that uses gochujang? I have a pot in the fridge but have only seen kimchi recipes with gochugaru.

PoachedScrambledBoiledFried · 25/05/2024 18:51

Sundubu-jjigae (tofu stew).
Mix with soy, honey, sesame oil and minced garlic to marinade chicken wings or potatoes.

This is lovely. Delicious, super quick and not too expensive.

One thing I wish is that I could find a gochujang that’s gluten free. If anyone knows of one, I’d be grateful for a steer!

I second this. Made it last week and it’s delicious.

You might need to copy and paste that into your browser to work

We do this with beef mince and have it with sticky rice and some kind of salad/slaw. And it’s one meal my son will happily cook so I get a night off from cooking too. It’s delicious.

BigPussyEnergy · 25/05/2024 19:34

Similar to Nigellas recipe above too.

Makes a very yummy asian prawn cocktail as a starter with prawn crackers. kewpie mayo, gochu jang, sesame oil, red onion, lime juice, lime zest, coriander, soy sauce and cooked shrimp.

mackerella · 26/05/2024 00:49

This caramelised gochujang and tomato soup is delicious (although my gochujang paste is evidently more spicy than hers as the soup ended up pretty hot, and I really love chilli!). I made it with passata instead of fresh tomatoes and it was popular with the whole family.

Caramelized Gochujang Tomato Soup

This Caramelized Gochujang Tomato Soup is unlike any you've had before - it's slightly spicy from a hit of carmelized gochujang paste and is deeply rich from slowly simmered tomatoes and just a touch of coconut milk. It's fully plant-based, easy to mak...

What a great thread! Thank you. I only ever use it for bibimbap sauce

The soup sounds amazing and I just happen to have a glut of cherry tomatoes in the fridge. Thanks for posting, I'm going to give this a go and will report back.
