Grazing tables - my anxiety is rising even to type these words!

Does anyone else feel anxious at the prospect of a grazing table? All that food; all rammed together and TOUCHING. What on earth do the remains look like after being stripped by the vultures? Ive never been to one, but my friend from work specialises in them and is threatening to invite us all round to imbibe. I'm already running for the hills.

I love my food but I'd be so disappointed to go to an event and find something like the picture below, as I'd be doubtful about eating from it at all. I'm very far from a hygiene freak but using the tried and tested method of each dish having its own dish or plate has to be more hygienic than having them all mixed up together on a table, especially as it means they can be covered and kept in the fridge or a cool place until the start of the buffet. As dozens of others have said, what about people with allergies, people on special diets for religious or ethical or medical reasons, people who just can't stand certain foods? None of them are being catered for here. Strange, strange trend.

Every time someone picks something up they're touching lots of things other people are going to eat too. Really I think they're just for looking at on instagram, I can't imagine actually eating from one - unless it's just with my closest family.

You are quite right, Stunt Pineapple is the correct MN term. I just had showhome hence show pineapple in my head! 😀
