What to do with salami?

Accidentally bought far too much salami so have lots leftover.

Does anyone have ideas on what to do with it?

practise making salami roses (you'll find instructions on Youtube)

karmakameleon · 25/03/2024 15:10

I make pizza 🍕

bluecomputerscreen · 25/03/2024 15:11

you can freeze it

BarrelOfOtters · 25/03/2024 15:12

Freeze it.

Put into scrambled eggs

Eat it.

Put in fried rice

omellette or frittata

use in a salad

use in soup - like chorizo.

essectially most things you can use ham or chorizo for.

Overtheatlantic · 25/03/2024 15:19

Add cheese and put on a Carr’s cracker 🥰

Ifailed · 25/03/2024 15:36

Is it pre-sliced? If not you can add chunks to a bean stew.

Mumaway · 25/03/2024 15:38

Mainly hide with your head in the fridge shovelling it in, but also sliced up in a pasta sauce, wrapped round cream cheese or manchego

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 25/03/2024 15:39

Is it sliced? If not you could practice swordfighting.

Sgtmajormummy · 25/03/2024 16:01

Boil it in soup, put it in a risotto, put it on a pizza, use it like bacon for anything.
Add it to a grainy salad.
Or scoff it yourself and say nothing!

Lindy2 · 25/03/2024 16:09

In sandwiches
On pizza
In a pasta dish
In a salad

Anything you can use ham for you can use salami for.

Unabletomitigate · 25/03/2024 16:10

Chop and add to the pan before the onions next time you make a pasta sauce, it sweats out oil so you don't need to add any.

ObliviousCoalmine · 25/03/2024 16:11

How much is "far too much"?

idontlikealdi · 25/03/2024 16:12

eat it from the packet.

coxesorangepippin · 25/03/2024 16:31

Yes, it's sliced

It's about 150grams

I know that doesn't sound much but we're already sick of it

Think I'll freeze it, or jambalaya

My OH loves a salami, cream cheese and mustard mayo sandwich with a bit of salad. I love making salami "crisps". I literally just chuck them in the air fryer. I can eat them alone but if that's not your thing they're lovely crumbled on pasta or salad 😋.

soupfiend · 25/03/2024 18:16

150g???

Thats an evenings snack surely?

muddyford · 25/03/2024 18:20

Crusty baguette spread with butter, layer the salami and eat.

BrightNewLife · 25/03/2024 18:27

Get some pre-rolled flaky pastry
Spread thin layer mustard (or pesto)
Add the salami slices
Add thin layer grated parmesan
Roll up whole thing into a sausage shape
Slice thinly Into “pinwheels”
Brush with egg yolk for golden finish
Pop in oven and you have fabulous pinwheel aperitifs/snacks

Takes 10 minutes

Just remembered an amazing salami and mushroom risotto my friend made me and I recreated a few times. Going on next weeks meal plan. Thanks!

It basically involves frying off the salami in oil with garlic and chilli and then making a mushroom risotto as normal using the juices from the salami and a few halved cherry tomatoes and chilli flakes, then topping with the crispy salami.

AdaColeman · 25/03/2024 18:45

Serve it with melon or fresh figs or avocado as a simple first course.

Eat it for breakfast with some Dutch cheese.

Have it with nuts, crisps, cheese cubed, radishes, for aperos.

Tear it up into pea soup or minestrone.

Growlybear83 · 25/03/2024 18:55

Surely it's not worth the bother of freezing 150g of salami? 😆😆. Just Chuck it away of you don't want it.

Noyesnoyes · 25/03/2024 19:02

Mumaway · 25/03/2024 15:38

Mainly hide with your head in the fridge shovelling it in, but also sliced up in a pasta sauce, wrapped round cream cheese or manchego

The first part is my preferred option!

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 25/03/2024 21:18

Chuck it in the bin. I've never liked it!

ObliviousCoalmine · 25/03/2024 21:39

150g is a lunch. Add cheese and grapes. Maybe wine.

A win.
