DS has asked for a cake like this. I have no idea where to start. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

I have no idea why it is deemed sensitive.

It looks a bit like a gremlin.

Could you have a normal cake with the gremlin as a cake topper instead?

Is that a cake or a model that DS wants created in cake?
If it is edible, it is probably not actual cake! The majority is probably rice crispies and marshmallows that can be moulded to shape.

I made the mistake of setting quite a high bar a few years ago.

Buy the character as a figure and put it on top of the cake.

Or buy a cake topper of that character in which case you only need to bake a round cake.

It’s a computer generated model that DS would like me to recreate in cake form @inappropriateraspberry

The character only exists in DS’s imagination unfortunately @BoohooWoohoo.

I seem to remember some supermarkets have a machine where you can print cake toppers. Has anyone used one?

I would do a normal round or square cake and do something to put on the top, a 3D cake like that would be very unstable! You could get the image printed on icing? Is it connected to anything specific like a computer game?

Give him some cake dough and tell him to practice his skills on it.

I found a local professional cake decorator who used to make cake toppers for me and then I’d make and decorate the rest of the cake. She made dragons, Lego heads, a golden snitch.. and then I’d make and decorate the cake for it to sit on.
maybe worry messaging a few?

I think it looks a bit like Yoda - could you do something like this?
Would just the head be ok? Round cake, rice crispie mould for the brown bit and ears, build the face out of fondant?
