I think I might be the only person alive who has never made Rice Krispie Cakes. What is your go to recipe?

Seriously, I’ve never made them. I thought there would be one stock recipe, but there isn’t.
What is your go to?

Rice Krispies
Chocolate

Terfosaurus · 19/11/2023 17:52

Rice krispies. Melted chocolate.

That's all.

BananaSpanner · 19/11/2023 17:53

Rice Krispies
Chocolate

This. I didn’t even know there was an alternative.

SaturdayGiraffe · 19/11/2023 17:54

I haven’t made them either. But isn’t there marshmallow involved somehow?

Comedycook · 19/11/2023 17:54

Mine is chocolate, golden syrup and butter

Sorry no quantities...I guess as I go.

I actually prefer cornflakes to rice Krispies though.

Petercrouchslegs · 19/11/2023 17:54

There is no recipe.
Melt some chocolate. Stir in rice crispies.
You are done.
Melt a Mars bar in with the chocolate if you want some gooiness.
You can't go wrong

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/11/2023 17:55

Don't bother. Cornflake nests are better.

American style is melted marshmallow, a bit of butter and Rice Krispies.

MadeOfAllWork · 19/11/2023 17:57

see. Some people have butter, some people have golden syrup.

Chocolate and rice crispies. Don’t like ones with butter or golden syrup though you are less likely to break your teeth on them.

weebarra · 19/11/2023 18:00

Butter
Chocolate
Condensed Milk
Raisins
Rice crispies

I know.

CyberCritical · 19/11/2023 18:00

Are you thinking of the chocolate ones or the marshmallow rice crispy squares?

Chocolate ones are better if you use melted Mars bars.

Marshmallow ones:
100g (4oz)butter
100g (4oz)marshmallows
100g (4oz)dairy toffees
150g (5oz)rice crispies.

Melt butter, toffee and marshmallows together, add rice crispies, squidge into a lined tin. They are very sticky so use baking paper and butter if you want to avoid loads of paper/foil stuck to your squares.

MadeOfAllWork · 19/11/2023 18:01

I was thinking of the chocolate ones. I’m vegetarian so the marshmallow ones are no good.

Heat some golden syrup in a pan, add a few tsp of cocoa powder and stir in as many Rice Krispies as you can. I don't like them made with melted chocolate.

Just leaving these vegetarian marshmallows here

😀

We made one at school once that was cocoa powder, syrup and butter I think plus rice crispies. I remember one poor lad's mum had sent him in instead with rice crispies and a bar of dairy milk and the teacher made a big hullabaloo about it being the wrong recipe.

afaloren · 19/11/2023 18:22

MIL makes the best Rice Krispie cakes. Rice Krispies, melted chocolate, a squeeze of honey and some raisins. They are delicious.

I don’t think the vegetarian ones melt the same way.

I’m going to be making them with my class so I need a simple recipe.

Milk chocolate and Rice Krispies only is best in my opinion.

Remember to melt the chocolate in a bowl over some boiling water (I put a sieve over the saucepan with the bowl inside the sieve).

spanieleyes · 19/11/2023 18:29

In a school, melt chocolate in a microwave, stir in rice crispies, done!

ScatteredShattered · 19/11/2023 18:30

Actually perhaps the melting in a bowl over boiling water is not safe for school (it’s not very stable when I do it).

Perhaps it can be melted in a pan over very low heat instead, or in the microwave

APurpleSquirrel · 19/11/2023 18:32

Just chocolate & Rice Krispies - even better if it's plain chocolate!

PurBal · 19/11/2023 18:33

Rice crispies, marshmallows, hard toffee, marge.

spidermonkeys · 19/11/2023 18:37

MadeOfAllWork · 19/11/2023 17:57

see. Some people have butter, some people have golden syrup.

Those people are insane. There are only 2 ingredients. Actually 3 if you count the chocolate mini egg you have to put on if it's around Easter.
