Grain toast with dollop of smooth ricotta, berries, and honey

MJGGG · 31/07/2023 14:03

20g ground flaxseeds mixed with plain kefir yoghurt and slight watered down. Add 30g of nuts of your choice and some fresh berries. High in fibre, protein, and vitamins. Keeps you highly satiated is great for the gut microbiome. Also keeps you regular!

Papernotplastic · 31/07/2023 14:03

What do you like to eat? What do you view as healthy - are you looking for low fat, high protein, low carb etc?

If you just look at it as another meal instead of thinking about ‘breakfast’ food, you can have anything. I can’t be arsed with cooking eggs in the morning but I’m happy with sliced hard boiled egg (cooked and kept in the fridge).

yogasaurus · 31/07/2023 14:04

Eggs on toast
Avocado on toast
Peanut butter and banana on toast

Omelette
Gyozas
Cheese and apple

Forgot to add that I'm trying to cut out bread. Don't mind porridge, but dont like overnight oats. And I like yoghurt, but not particularly in a morning. Prefer to eat fruit and yoghurt on an evening. Trying to lose weight, so my perfect breakfast of crumpets slathered in lurpak, or toast and marmalade is out. Also often don't have much time in a morning. I have been having boiled eggs, but getting a bit bored of them now.

Do you have a nutribullet? This week I blended two eggs with two big handfuls of fresh spinach and added a spoonful of chickpea flour, and cooked them on a low heat to make spinach wraps. Had them with ham/houmous/avoc/Greek yoghurt mixed with chilli and cumin. Super delicious and high in protein.

blobby10 · 31/07/2023 15:26

I had peanut butter and jam on crumpets last week - usually have butter and/or honey - and it was delicious! I feel it was a really balanced meal as PB is protein to balance out the carbs Grin

Now that sounds delicious, can you make them in advance.

Green smoothies - spinach, water or coconut water, Greek yoghurt, 1 banana and a little bit of pineapple

Moredarkchocolateplease · 31/07/2023 15:28

Probably. If you kept them in tinfoil they'd stay pliable.

I made them very thin on the crepe pan and they behaved just like wraps.

pambeeslyhalpert2 · 31/07/2023 15:30

I love smoothies atm.
1 banana
1/2 cup oat milk
1/2 cup of berries
Handful of spinach
10g almond butter
80g yogurt- I use SKYR

I got a frantic text once from a friend who was babysitting someone's children, "IS IT OK TO EAT SOUP FOR BREAKFAST?" Yes, yes it is. The kids were baffled at the drama as they regularly did.

Ah! I was just going to ask what is your definition of "healthy" and what are you trying to achieve.
Usually if you are trying to lose weight I think increasing your protein is recommended, so eggs, salmon, yoghurt/Fage, add colour in terms of fruit/veg.

I have made baked oats before SW Recipe that to me tastes like cake!

Are you trying to calorie control? If so, how many calories are you allowing for breakfast?

You could do breakfast burrito type things.

@Imtoooldforallthis crumpets are actually not that fattening - maybe try with a thin scrape of low fat Philly or something asa but goes a long way -

My other favourite is from hair bikers diet

2 Crumpets, then dry fry some raspberries and blueberries with cinnamon powder till it goes to a mulch- dollop on crumpets and top with a large dollop of Greek yoghurt

I've been making smoothies for breakfast and I'm obsessed. Walking around the supermarket thinking "what can I blend?"

Smoothies can be very high in sugar but I make mine low. I use nut milk (coconut is my favourite so far) or water, frozen berries (berries very low sugar), kale, and sometimes a small portion of a sugary fruit like banana. People say adding protein powder keeps you fuller longer, but that hasn't been true for me.
