What’s on your Sunday roast?

So inspired by the fact it’s Sunday. What’s on your ideal or even typical Sunday roast? I’m always looking for inspiration as I change what we have every week.

Today we had -
Roast beef, Yorkshire, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, honey parsnips, green beans and gravy.
What was on your plate?

We had the same but carrots and broccoli instead of green beans. I LOVE roast beef! And a nice pudding 😊

Slimjimtobe · 05/03/2023 18:23

Today wasn’t a roast but it’s my cheat roast

large tray of baby potatoes cut in half
onions and three peppers and I place pork chops on top and roast for an hour (with bbq seasoning)

always goes down well and very little washing up

OnMyWayToSenility · 05/03/2023 18:25

I'm a roast on Monday person.. don't ask why!

Usually chicken olive oil, cumin, salt pepper

Proper roast potatoes
Yorkies
Greens
Gravy made from juices from pan

mondaytosunday · 05/03/2023 18:26

I'd lose the cauliflower cheese, add carrots and horseradish sauce. Tradition means that - everyone would protest if anything changed!

Goingoutdancing · 05/03/2023 18:27

I made chicken for DH DSS and DD I had a lamb shank.
We had mash, roast potatoes, peas., broccoli fresh for DIL garden parsnips carrots and cabbage.

Yorkshire puds. Kids have sweetcorn too
Not everyone had all of the veg obvs but it delicious. Lots of gravy and mint for me.
Then DIL dropped down a sponge cos MIL is making a birthday cake it this failed her quality control but was bloody lovely

Meandfour · 05/03/2023 18:28

We’ve had chicken, gammon, pigs in blankets, roasties, mash, stuffing, Yorkshires, carrots, brocolli, green beans & peas and it was delicious!

This tends to be the same every week except we change between beef/chicken & gammon. We don’t have pigs in blankets with beef.

ohidoliketobe · 05/03/2023 18:30

We have a roast every 2 weeks. Today we had lamb with roast potatoes Yorkshire puds and gravy, veg depends on what's in the veg box I collect on a Saturday - I used carrot, swede, cabbage and green beans from this week's

We had roast chicken, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, purple sprouting broccoli, carrots, stuffing and gravy made from the roasting juices. Then an Apple crumble with ice cream for pudding. Dh and I both grew up having Sunday roasts and it is something we do twice a month or so, time permitting. We all love it!

illiterato · 05/03/2023 18:33

pork, crackling, roast potatoes, roast parsnips and carrots, broccoli, Yorkshire, loads of gravy, apple sauce.

PillBoxes · 05/03/2023 18:48

Far too much veg in there in some of your dinners! I'll just have the meat, yorkies, spuds and gravy thanks. Be damned if I'm eating veg on a roastie Sunday. That's for when I'm good during the week. Heathen that I am.

There is just something about an apple crumble after a roast isn’t there 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
We had a homemade jam roly poly today courtesy of DD and my mum but next week will be apple crumble.

I did roast chicken with garlic basted carrots and sweet potatoes, broccoli and peas. We also had stuffing and yorkshires. It's just me and DS. He won't eat roast potatoes so I don't bother and I just have a couple of thick sweet potato slices instead. It was lovely. Just eyeing the clearing up now!

I’m sorry...I can’t be the only one outraged that @Meandfour had pigs in blankets in a Sunday roast 😳😳😳 are they bloody delicious?! Absolutely! But you know that other than in December, they simply exist as sausages and bacon SEPARATELY don’t you?! 😳
Putting them together in March is practically criminal 😅

TomatoSandwiches · 05/03/2023 19:13

I love a good Leg of Lamb roast, marinaded the night before in olive oil, garlic, lemon and thyme, pop a bit of beef stock and red wine in the pan while it cooks with some chopped onions, carrot and celery makes the best gravy.
We have that with roasties, Savoy cabbage, diced swede and wholegrain honey mustard glazed carrots.

Oh no way!! They’re a year round thing in our house 😂 DH might well divorce me if I don’t serve them up at least monthly!

Roast beef & roast spuds nearly ready, & I'm just about to find what greenery in the 'fridge needs using. CBA to do lots of different veg just for 2 of us.
Haven't had to make yorkies since 1996 !

StiggyZardust · 05/03/2023 19:31

Roast shoulder of lamb, roast potatoes, cabbage and broccoli. Very tasty.
Left overs will be magically transformed into moussaka tomorrow.

Jumbojem · 05/03/2023 19:40

Veggie adults had homemade nut roast, baby roast spuds, roasted parsnips and carrots, broccoli and kale. Kids had a chicken breast.
I love cauliflower cheese but don't make it often.
